How has the Covid-19 virus affected your adventures?

I've definitely decided to change plans. First of all, although I'm in my late 30s, I live with a 78 year old with weight and cardiovascular issues. So if I bring this home, I'm playing Russian Roulette with their life. In order to avoid putting them at risk I am staying home. I cancelled my...

    Maritime Canada Expedition

Wow you're getting and sharing some great info here, thank you.

100% agree. I enjoy offroading from my friends' passenger seats.

    Maritime Canada Expedition

Wow, thanks for all that! I would usually avoid a ferry on the way but in this case, I might go for it. Fresh clams are on the list, haha. I'll definitely be doing a few trails in both directions too. But I'm not looking for anything too technical since I'll probably be solo. But, at the same...

    Maritime Canada Expedition

It all depends how things unfold. I like to stay in a place for a day or two to hike, bike, and paddle; just general exploring off the beaten path. I suspect that I could fill 3 weeks in NB, NS, and PEI with 10 main destinations. But I would love to visit Quebec and St Lawrence too.

    Maritime Canada Expedition

Right now I believe PEI will be my turnaround point. I'm hoping to take my time as much as possible and just enjoy things as I go. Very early planning right now, just started this morning, all subject to change as I go, but I'm thinking 3 weeks will be in Canada. Hoping to have few deadlines...

    Maritime Canada Expedition

Hey @Road et al. I'm planning a 4 week trip from PA to Nova Scotia for July or September this year. Would like to pick your brain if you've been already and/or discuss being part of the group if this is still in the works.

Tacoma Overland Drawer 2.0 PullKitchen project

Thanks so much for such a detailed response. And quick! I was thinking about the water run-off too, especially on the side that will be exposed because it wouldn't be under the rtt. I'm not too concerned about the extra weight of the hdpe, it's worth the trade for weather resistance. And my...

Tacoma Overland Drawer 2.0 PullKitchen project

Just saw one of these pics on IG had had to find the thread. I think of myself as pretty handy but this is impressive. It's obvious how much forethought and planning went into version 2.0. And the execution sure looks flawless to me. I'd love to get my kitchen out of aluboxes. Total pain to...

My 2005, it's a pretty complete purpose built rig at this point.

Truck bed fridge w/o bed cap?

That sounds like great way to get this done. I was also looking into the various footprint of these fridges to see how they will mesh with my existing cargo boxes. Looks like I'll be condensing from 4 cases to 3 to make it all fit. Unfortunately the footprint for 2 separate fridges would limit...

Truck bed fridge w/o bed cap?

That's an interesting fridge, thanks for the tip. I think that's one possibility.

    a little insight!

Full size overlanding is absolutely possible. I think it's easier out west where the trails are less likely to deal with encroaching trees and bushes. Many of the east coast trails are jeep trails. My 2nd gen taco was pretty well pinstriped after Bald Eagle state forest. The biggest advantage to...

How big is big enough? - Tire sizes

I've got 35x12.5s on my taco and have actually decided to go down to something that'll be approximately 34x11. After replacing hub bearings after 12k miles, losing too much of my turning radius, and typical rubbing issues I'm hoping for improvements.

Truck bed fridge w/o bed cap?

That is a cool setup. Thought about doing the slide and fridge on top but back before I decided to outfit my rig I did a rear seat delete and custom box and got it painted with rhinoliner. From the top of the box to the bottom of the door is 24" which makes getting in the fridge impossible...

Truck bed fridge w/o bed cap?

That's pretty much my question too... I'm hoping someone who's already tried it sees this. Worst case scenario, I'll be at a festival in August where dometic had a booth last year. Hopefully I'll get to chat with a rep or two. The Elements is the only one advertised as such so far but it's...

Truck bed fridge w/o bed cap?

Yeah that's what I'm finding, the elements is the only one out there, just curious if and how people have found other solutions. Long time REI member, will keep that in mind. Budget isnt really the issue, willing to spend the money for the right solution. If I had a more conducive setup I'd...

Boxes, items, etc while away from vehicle (hiking, biking, etc)

My bed rack and locking tailgate are my primary deterrant. I keep my items in 3 or four cases in the bed that are too large to fit through any of the gaps of the bedrack. Started with action packers which were water resistant after I fashioned a gasket. Presently, alu-boxes.
