Oh great! thanks!!!
I started putting mine together and used it on the camping trip this weekend. Worked well but I need a much larger solar panel and a different inverter. The one I bought works fine but its not a pure sinewave so I don't want to charge my laptop and cell phones with it. I...
So I decided this morning to make a smaller version. This should allow me to have SOME power and learn WTF i'm doing with out dropping a ton of money.
Ordered the parts below.
Going to throw it all in an old Plano tool box I have sitting around in the garage.
For those who have done this...
*bump*
Starting to think perhaps I should start off pretty small to figure things out before going larger. I'm on a number of forums so i'm either not asking the right questions or these still aren't very popular. .. or both!
The only feedback i've gotten so far is I may not need the 2000W...
Hi Folks,
Looking for advice and direction.. I've been watching a silly amount of youtube videos and reading a crap load of sites on building a solar generator. I think i've got the basic components down but I don't really have much knowledge on what I NEED persay..
What I know..
I'll have 4x...
Since the uprights are aluminium and the crossbars are steel I used rubber band between them to avoid that nasty corrosion.

Good to know. I'm thinkin GB about putting batteries and a small solar setup in my tongue box as well. What ones did you go with?

I also added a custom set of These I had them make some custom ones that are not @ the 15 degree angle so I can load the RTT on it . I've got a Mt. Shasta Extended Stargazer with annex on my tacoma thats about to find a new home.
The only thing I need to do is make some crossbars. I'm trying...
So I did a thing this weekend! I upgraded the frame of my Space Trailer I had the XL longneck model but the frame just was not beefy enough for my liking. Plus I only had the 13 inch wheels and wanted to go to 15 inch wheels for the height and clearance.
Great build!
Something I've been debating for mine, are you worried about the height and position of the RTT? I'm worried a bit that if I go that high and put it over the axel I'll have swaying. I've always been told and read that you want it to be tongue heavy.
Not yet I figured i'd make a few posts before starting to sketch. I am actually using sketch up right now to map out the entire trailer so I can figure out some other things placement like dual propane tank mounts and a front box.
I want to come out pretty far. The trailer is 7 feet deep so I figure if I come out at least 4 feet that gets me in decent shape. I've got a couple old legs from a fold out table that I could use for support. Good call on pintrest I didn't even think to look there!
