Unique Places in the Desert- April 2018

Winter finally wound down and Connie @Stumblebunny and I had a yearning to get back on the trails. Since the experienced half of the Happy Our Overlanding gang had a prior commitment, Connie devised a fairly easy adventure that any beginner could enjoy. It would start with a known campsite...

HAM Radio Call Sign Check-In Thread

I just purchased a Larsen steel spring base NMO Antenna after bending my stationary antenna. Went and tested it on a brushy, low tree branches trail today. It worked like a charm.

    2016 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Modifications

So the trail ride today proved successful. The new antenna with spring worked like a dream. Very pleased with the purchase. The second item I tested on this trip was my homemade mic extension cable. Since I didn't need 3 or 5 meter ext cable (much less the cost was very pricey), I got some...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

On the trail today I also tested out the new Mic extension cable I made. Didn't want to purchase a 3 meter or 5 meter extension cable since I only needed 2 feet. So into the network leftover box and got some ethernet cable and RJ45 coupler and voila.....

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I bent my HAM antenna on the trail the other day through dense brush and trees. Sooooo... to remedy this (I hope) I purchase a similar spring mount solution to what you see for CB antennas...you know...those long antennas wagging back and forth, back and forth as they drive down the road...

    2016 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Modifications

Well this happened...on the run the other day I ended up bending my HAM antenna squeezing through the tight brush and trees :sob:. Tried to bend it back but couldn't get it straight :disappointed:. So I called up HAM Radio Outlet to see if they had any remedies similar to what you see for CB...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

If I remember the old days of film, 30 fps was the standard... I'd do both to see if there is a noticeable difference for what you want.
