I just purchased a Larsen steel spring base NMO Antenna after bending my stationary antenna. Went and tested it on a brushy, low tree branches trail today. It worked like a charm.
So the trail ride today proved successful. The new antenna with spring worked like a dream. Very pleased with the purchase.
The second item I tested on this trip was my homemade mic extension cable. Since I didn't need 3 or 5 meter ext cable (much less the cost was very pricey), I got some...
On the trail today I also tested out the new Mic extension cable I made. Didn't want to purchase a 3 meter or 5 meter extension cable since I only needed 2 feet. So into the network leftover box and got some ethernet cable and RJ45 coupler and voila.....
Thanks for the info. I actually did it the old fashion way of checking the squelch when I lengthened and shorten the antenna. Not the best way but it did in a pinch.... Went on a trail ride today and the new antenna and spring worked like a champ. :grinning: Very pleased with the purchase.

I bent my HAM antenna on the trail the other day through dense brush and trees. Sooooo... to remedy this (I hope) I purchase a similar spring mount solution to what you see for CB antennas...you know...those long antennas wagging back and forth, back and forth as they drive down the road...
Well this happened...on the run the other day I ended up bending my HAM antenna squeezing through the tight brush and trees :sob:. Tried to bend it back but couldn't get it straight :disappointed:. So I called up HAM Radio Outlet to see if they had any remedies similar to what you see for CB...
