    Has overlanding become elitist ?

I know about the body thing and getting old. I am a lot like my rig. I have had 16 ortho surgeries and a couple of cancer surgeries. Getting ready to do a drive train overhaul for Christmas and get a couple of new knees. :grimacing:

Thanks for the info. I plan on grabbing a couple for my teardrop. I wired it for them when I built it but, building is an incremental process.

    Has overlanding become elitist ?

What you have to remember is that you don't get that many tools or learn how to use them overnight. Many of the tools I built my self and I have been working at it for 50 years. I am an migrant aerospace engineer. I travel around the world working on projects and am far from home and my toys...

    Has overlanding become elitist ?

This thread pretty much sums up my view on offroading. I have been doing what everybody calls overlanding for 50 years. I have done it in everything from a 62 Ford farm truck to a 73 Chevy Van I put a fiberglass top on and built the insides for camping. My wife and I covered the Rocky...

Moving from the US to England

Do you have emissions testing? If it passes here in the USA, will it pass there? Are the levels similar?

Moving from the US to England

My questions have to do with the MOT. Will they accept fairly radical modifications? How about restrictions on left hand drive?

    Road Hazard Warranty...Worth it?

I tend to buy my tires at Sam's Club. The road hazard/rotation/balance, etc is quite cheap and worth the price of rotation only. They have stores across the US and are rarely more than 20 miles away. Forget CostCo. They wouldn't mount my tires because they weren't the factory size. I made...

    Uberlands slow-but-hopefully-steady Excursion build.

If you are going to do any rough trails, I would first ditch the side steps, before doing a lift.

    Blood Clotter

Being an insulin dependent diabetic, I carry a bunch of sugar packets with me in my insulin kit. For me that works just fine. Just grab some the next coffee shop of fast food restaurant you visit. I have been at this so long that I can tell you my glucose level at any given time within 10...

Help me plan my trip to Utah!

Given the time of the year, remember Moab is a desert and just about shuts down in July due to heat. I have been there in July when it was 113 F on the trails. As long as you AC works and you are prepared, you can do it. It does cool down at night but you are still going to feel the heat.

Cancelled Rocky Mountain Region June Meetup - Moab, UT

As long as you can handle 110 in the shade, you will be fine, otherwise wait.
