    Oztent Reviews or Feedback

I have two and have used them for 10+ years. Awesome tents. Quick to set up, takes longer and is better with two people if you do the awnings and stuff but just the tent itself is super easy. They are heavy but not bad for me, the biggest issue is the 5 series is long when packed. Very nice...

Cancelled Old-School Vehicle Overlanding Trip - Running the WA Backcountry Discovery Route

I'm going to do my best to avoid any highways whose designation starts with an I on this trip. I'll leave Saturday morning and take mostly two lane roads to Stevenson.

Yeah Sunday will work better, that will give me a day to take the nice leisurely drive the long way to Stevenson.

Cancelled Old-School Vehicle Overlanding Trip - Running the WA Backcountry Discovery Route

Saw the news just now that NWOL expo is canceled for this year. Shall we move up the start date to Saturday or Sunday morning of Labor Day Weekend?

    Diehard battery

I personally prefer Interstate made by Johnson Controls. I've replaced lots of batteries in customer's vehicles and have seen some Interstates that were years past what would be considered their lifespan and were still working. Exide batteries seem to be the worst as they always seem to leak...

    Overlanding with older vehicles

I grew up with chainsaws, my dad had at least 6 at any one time, usually more. I still have his Stihl 044 I'll bring along.

Mackenzie Trail BC - want to do it?

Here's a write up on the trail in 2009. They used a few less horsepower than we will. http://horsetrekkingtheworld.blogspot.com/2012/01/alexander-mckenzie-heritage.html?m=1

    Overlanding with older vehicles

Sounds good to me. I'll leave from Leavenworth and meander down to Stevenson on backroads. I'll just need to be back to work on the following Monday so I'll need to finish the route Saturday evening or first thing Sunday morning. Anyone else online shopping for their rigs? I've resisted some...

Mackenzie Trail BC - want to do it?

I spent part of one summer at my grandparents gold claim near Central AK and can remember how big and ferocious the mosquitos were. You did your business in the outhouse very quickly. Definitely will need long sleeves and mosquito netting.

Mackenzie Trail BC - want to do it?

Your F150 should be able to make it as long as you're not worried about scratches and such. Skid plates, bigger mud tires, and good recovery points will help alot. I'll probably plan on 2 weeks off so I can do some exploring on the way up and back.

Mackenzie Trail BC - want to do it?

I'll probably be in a pickup so would have room for gas cans. Not sure what the ferry regulations are for gas cans though if I take it from Bella Coola. Will have to look and see.

So I just saw the NWOL dates were changed to Labor Day weekend. Could we either start or end at the show?

So fall of 2021? First week or so of September?

Mackenzie Trail BC - want to do it?

Definitely do it later in the season so hopefully you won't have as many trees to cut out of the way. Bring bug protection and some extra fuel. A week sounds about right. A fairly stock vehicle can do it depending on water crossing levels. I'm over near Spokane so a days travel time on each...
