    Driving “off the road”

Yeah, I would say there's too many variables at play to Monday morning quarterback a recovery by a member. What we definitely should be doing is giving that member props for helping someone out of a jam - it reflects well on the community and shows people outside of it that OB is a good...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Next purchase will hopefully be the mats for building my roof rack...we'll see.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but in some jurisdictions they'll ding you for not having your plate illuminated. Just something to be aware of. Good to see that spare tire where it belongs!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Nice! That's a good solid unit. I have an older version of it. Just make sure you tune your antenna properly using a SWR meter.

    Oddball overlanding rigs!

True, and sometimes vehicles are capable of a lot more than one would think they are given the right driver.

    Oddball overlanding rigs!

That is a sweet van. Those approach and departure angles are brilliant. Just need some serious rocks sliders and I'd say that bad boy would go anywhere. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, I hope you're able to get it back on track soon.

    Oddball overlanding rigs!

Our very own @TinTop Camper has an absolutely badass Suzuki Samurai rig. Not gonna lie, I'm quite jelly.

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Marked down from $15.99 to $9.99 because it was missing the little plastic disc that seals the spout. I made one out of an iced tea cap.

    Older wrangler

Yeah, I hear you on that. Where I live, the prices are downright stupid for old jeep "wranglers," especially when compared to a jeep Cherokee XJ, which is a superior vehicle for overlanding purposes, in my opinion. Guys asking stupid money for beat old TJ's and YJ's with 300,000+ kms, some with...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I SO wish I had the means to buy that thing. Dang it's sexy. LHD to boot!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

You've got firewood for the next two years now, by the looks of it!

    Sleeping recommendations

Yeah, probably the "air bed" type air mattresses would be a possibility, as BL Overland mentioned. I believe they make some large size cots, however they almost invariably have a bar down the middle, so single cots might be a better option.

    Is this one of us?

A perfect example of why OB is such an awesome community full of awesome people. I love a happy ending :D

    Is this one of us?

Huzzah!! Well done, man! @A-Aron, may I respectfully suggest you buy this man a beer? ;) Whatcha going to do with the axle? Turn it into a trophy as I suggested? :D lol Let the inaugural Snapped Axle Cup commence! Looking at those fenders, I don't think those are actually from A-Aron, they...

    80/20 roof rack. Any advice?

I plan to make my own platform rack for my CR-V soon. I'll post a link to the build thread entry when it's done, if you're interested.

    Synthetic wench rope vs steel

4 out of 5 wenches prefer synthetic rope ;) When it comes to winches, there are probably more pros than cons to synthetic, but the biggest cons are probably cost, maintenance and UV vulnerability. Synthetic rope can be degraded internally by grit and crap getting between the strands, so it has...
