...a very long time ago, I was able to sleep just about anywhere upon anything. Nearly 30 years ago my wife and I started out with a cheap Coleman tent, cheap little rubber/foam sleeping mats and a couple of sleeping bags from our local Army surplus store. It rained a lot that first time out...
Sure, after a lifetime of building out our own Jeeps- Landcruiser and expo trailers and camping in tents and later on in a rooftop tent , my wife and I decided to go full time. Once that decision was made we spoiled ourselves and had our new home on wheels custom built. The aluminum bed was a...
...of remote areas, so that should take center stage. now granted, the wife and I did start off with ground mats and sleeping bags in a leaky tent and over time we have moved to a memory foam mattress and better pillows...but generally we do keep it very simple and focus a lot more on location...
I’m new to overlanding, so looking forward to setting up things in the truck bed with a tent overhead. It’ll be so wonderful or even something where it’s just for my dog and I. Go stargazing, and enjoy nature! Any tips for beginners?
...plugs because of they're propensity to walk out. I'm using them for my fridge and 12v for my RTT (lights, charging electronics, and CPAP in the tent), as well as cooking area lights
I've got one of these https://powerwerx.com/panelpole-panel-mount-powerpole-black-dual
And then these crimped...
Yeah that is absolutely what I was looking for ! I will have a look at his build and see what I can come up with for mine, I know my rack is rated for good weight and I was surprised how well it held up off road with a giant tent on top and other gear
Much appreciated! I've since moved into a Tacoma but I'll always have a soft spot for Subaru's. I've always had the mentality of DIY'ing before buying.
...over-prepared, we don't think about anything except enjoying the trip, so it works out for the better.
having a shower is nice. we started off tent camping and using a pan to heat water and do a sponge bath. worked ok, but then we graduated to a bug sprayer and a shower tent. worked...
...roof there, plus two traction boards in the front box (maybe 10lbs), and I usually carry lightweight stuff in the Pelican cases (chair, tarps, tent, etc.). So figure I'm usually around 200lbs on the roof when fully geared up, which I guess isn't too bad all things considered. Not that I have...
...a farm jack as well since it can be used to pull vehicles when stuck. My next step will be a hitch mount winch, just spend some $$$ on a new tent but the winch will be next.
It seems the truck did a lot better and did tackle some challenging logging roads, nothing crazy but I will definitely...
I'd also scored a cheapie tailgate tent that hangs off the liftgate. I'll take my daughters to the beach on my weekends and we'll just pop the tent up and chill in the back. It's really fun.
The tent didn't ship with guywires or pegs, so that's why it looks so deflated here.
...I've heard the same thing which is why it's on my list. Size is my only concern. Will it fit behind the back-left seat in a Jeep JL? Whatever fridge I purchase must fit back there, period. I run a ground tent/cot setup and the space to the right of the fridge is required for the rest of my gear.
...shade and a place to get out of the rain if needed, it was. A fold out canopy would be easier but more hassle mounting it with an adjustable tent height.
Camping a Hannigan Meadows Az 9100'
Rain was rolling in so I stashed the ebike out of the weather and cooked dinner on the tailgate...
I was in a rally earlier this year in Baja and a couple of the participants had flown in from Lithuania and rented a Tacoma pop-up tent rig (orange truck on right) from Topoterra in the San Diego area. They just slapped some decals on the truck and bombed through the desert along with the rest...
Awesome! I dream of doing this with my daughter when she gets just a little older. For now mom limits us to a tent in the backyard lol! Keep making those memories!!
How is the older F 250 incapable of handling the 1330 (lbs?) of payload, exactly? If it can handle over 3100 lbs, 1300 should be a cake walk. I'm I reading this wrong?
So, your old 250 CAN handle it. Just. Your newer 150 has special features that allow it to do so.
If the trailer is 1300lbs...
Newer trucks are made with stronger steel. Sure. Your newer F150 could very well have a higher capacity than the older 250.
It will tell you in the door frame or as you said. You looked it up by VIN.
Not to mention hp coming into play. He e l l, my 06 Honda Civic Si 4 cylinder had ALMOST as...
