Hey all!
Thanks for all the posts and interest in this trip (through the various threads). I'm really looking forward to hanging out with you all this weekend.
If you can't make it, no worries. We'll set up another Hollister, Pismo, or mountain trail run soon.
I wish I could make Saturday as well, but I'm working. See you on Sunday though! Post up which camp site you end up in (Sycamore or Obstacle Course) and I'll meet you there Sunday morning.
I made my own CO2 system for $150 and have a cheap back up compressor on alligator clips that does supposedly 5CFM.
An expensive compressor will work best but they sure are spendy. I’d recommend looking at fill up times. You don’t need to be the first one filled up but you definitely don’t want...
We're heading out to Hollister Hills SVRA in Hollister, California, this Sunday (07/29) for a great day of meeting & greeting, wheeling, and vehicle testing. Come join us and have some fun!
Hollister Hills SVRA offers trails of all levels, so we can make things as easy or difficult as we want...
Let me know what you hear from your Boss, haha.
I could be up there early on Sunday. I'll probably end up camping and heading to work Monday morning. Saturday is a no-go for me due to work assignments.
Very cool. I always stop in Baker for Mad Greek en route to Las Vegas. I'll have to take a quick detour and check these sites out. Might be photogenic if nothing else.
That'll work if you have enough cargo space. I seriously considered one this year but couldn't get the storage size to work in my full size truck. I went to a 6 person backpacking tent that is 75" tall, 15#, and 11"x31" stored.
I reached out to Swiss-Link and they told me the large case and small cases cannot stack together (small one turned sideways), even though they have the same dimensions (large with width and small with length). That's a bummer and big selling point of the alu-boxes.
Calico area in Barstow could be fun, as would anything in the Mojave desert and Big Bear Mountain. Trails Offroad doesn't have a full list of trails, but they show descriptions and gpx coordinates for plenty in that area – https://www.trailsoffroad.com/states/CA
I'm a ground tent guy and really enjoy backpacking style tents with 3 poles. My typical setup time is just 5 minutes, including a self-inflating sleeping pad. My camp kitchen and sleeping arrangements stay pretty much the same, so all of my cases are pre-loaded and ready to grab. I can be out of...
Amber is the race community color. Red is the euro-spec rear facing fog light. It doesn't really matter what you use, as long as you have something in really dense fog or dust.
On the other end of the spectrum, just don't run them in normal rainy or dry conditions on the highway.
Thanks for the comparison. The Alu-Boxes are really nice but for the price the Swiss Link stuff could suffice. Especially when compared to a plastic bin.
Side note, what size Swiss Link is in your video?
