DVC is absolutely right. As I stated in an earlier post on this thread. Depends on everything DVC listed plus traveling speed, type of road. Deep sand at slow speed is not as big a threat to your beads as rock crawling. Plus remember! If you are doing 35mph down a dirt road sidewall heat...
SLO Rob is correct. There is a “4wd w/lift” requirement. The last couple years have had many stock height vehicles. I wonder why, maybe they had complaints?
I have attended the last two years. Both times the runs were fun and easy. There are plenty of people there to spot and guide you. It is the perfect experience for someone who has not done a lot of off-reading. It is really cool to see people who have never taken their vehicles off road and...
I am assuming the coupon code is for a discount. This is for Michael or the crew to answer. I would buy your ticket now since it was sold out by 3pm last year.
“A”-is the bolt that holds the rear section of the hitch “B” inside the front main tube of the trailer frame.
“C”-is the bolt that holds the U-shaped piece to that inner piece. It provides the roll needed when the trailer and vehicle travel over different planes. This bolt is NOT tight. It...
Gosh, the hitch was something I threw together in my shop using scrap metal. I can take some detailed photos with measurements if it will help you. I have a Bridgeport mill but it could have easily been made with a drill press. It provides almost unlimited travel in all directions. I used...

When you build your trailer consider swing axles. I used them on mine and the trailer does not limit our off road travel. Last summer we did 9 days in Utah including the Lockhart Basin Trail. I also built a gimbal hitch to eliminate any binding when we travel through ruts.

A couple people have said something very important. -Make sure the sliders you get will support the weight of the vehicle.- I see so many trucks out there with “show sliders”.

I have a Discovery related question: the stock “cabin air filter” for the Discovery is kind of a joke. It keeps bugs and rock out but when you are traveling down a dirt road behind a bunch of your best Overland Bound members the dust is choking. Last trip I placed a piece of open cell foam...
You only need to pull the top plenum off. There are 8 or so 10mm long bolts and a small gasket (cheap at NAPA) from what I can remember. If memory serves me, the O-rings were special. The guy got them at the dealer but I am sure any of the normal Rover parts suppliers will have them.

MS_Disco, your Discovery is really coming along nicely. I am starting to get jealous.

You do not have to be an OB member to make the run but there was a limit of how many vehicles could attend. Contact the guy who organized the trip and see if there is room. You are welcome to camp with us Thursday night. We are just camping on open BLM land.
