    2014 F150 lift

There's no single "right answer" to that question, other than "it depends." It depends on the exact weight and CG of your rig when complete. It depends on the exact trail and conditions in any given instance where tipping is possible. It depends on what changes you've made to track-width...

Mojave Road after Thanksgiving trip November 26-29 (ish)

I wish I could, and I appreciate the offer but I'm taking all of Thanksgiving week itself off, so I can't get those days at the start of the next week. -TJ

    Camp Photos!

Not super "overlanding" since it was at a semi-developed BLM site, but I took the Xterra and ground tent out for a quick one this weekend: My other rig is at home in Vegas but I was stuck in Palo Alto for the weekend but still wanted to get out. -TJ

    Titan swapped 2012 frontier pro4x

You just described me. The WJ is more of a "Rocklander", the D'max/FWC is my "luxury" Overlander, and now the Xterra is my basic Overlander for simple/quick tent trips (until I inevitably ruin it). I think I like the "build" and thinking through setups as much as camping sometimes. -TJ

    Titan swapped 2012 frontier pro4x

Yeah, I've been looking into other lift options too and came across this: Alldogs Offroad Radflo Extended Travel Suspension Lift for 2nd Gen Nissan Xterra that should get a little more travel (the Fronteir/Xterra's only real downside is the lack of travel, IMHO) and a moderate lift without...

    Titan swapped 2012 frontier pro4x

Rad! I just got a 2012 Xterra Pro-4X a month or two ago, but I couldn't find a manual trans that didn't cost as much as a new rig. The Frontier will be an awesome platform with the utility of a pickup bed. It's so tempting to go full Titan swap on these things... -TJ

    What Gear/Tools to Get Started?

If you come from backpacking you have almost all the gear you need! Yes, you can buy some additional stuff now that space/weight isn't as much of a consideration (bigger tent, better sleeping pad/mattress, multi-burner stove, etc.) but you don't *need* any of that. Your backpacking gear will...

    Trans swap

I'm surprised how straight-forward the swap is. That said, I wonder what the total cost of the project vs. selling an existing JK and buying into a JL/T would be? Either way, I love the ZF8 and have had it in 6 different vehicles ('15 BMW 335i, '16 JGC WK2 5.7, '17 JGC Trailhawk 5.7, '18 JGC...

The rig I spent two years building was just stolen! Heartbroken

I'd start with deciding what you did, and didn't like about the Silverado. I run a full size Silverado too and love it, but we all think about what they'd do differently next time. I can't imagine a more complete and comfortable overlanding rig with more range and capability (for the comfort...

    CB Overland: From the Shadows

@CB Overland any suggestions for a 2-3 night trip near Vegas this time of year? I'm looking at doing something the Mon-Wed or even Mon-Thurs before Thanksgiving (11/21-23 or 24). It needs to be something that can accommodate a pretty large, but very capable (37"s and locked front/rear) rig...

    Where to start?

Bedroom, bathroom and a small kitchen is a lot to stuff into 6x12. When the family comes along how difficult are the trails you hit? Something built-out essentially as a travel trailer with a 12' box is going to be ~17' total (5' tongue) and relatively heavy. Heavier-yet if you build it beefy...

    Overland Vehicle Mileage

My primary Overlander is my '11 Silverado 2500. I forget the exact mileage, and I'm in the Bay Area for work and the truck is home in Vegas so I can't pull the exact mileage, but IIRC it's just under 140k miles. Some might think that's high for something you're trusting for your life-support...

Why are the Ram's and all long beds neglected in the aftermarket world?!

As a 3/4 ton Chevy owner, I always felt like the GMs were way more limited than Ford or RAM. So I guess it's all perception. I had mine SAS'ed, but staying IFS there were very few high-high quality options for lifts (Cognito being the main one). As for long bed, if GFCs don't offer something...
