Paint is probably the best, because rocks are always going to cut into paint and powder coat. No escaping that. Paint is the easiest to touch up from time to time.

Might want to hold off on that CB install. There are a few nice Ham setups that can do CB. A bit more money, but one radio. Some of the 10M radios can be modded over to 11 and CB.
