    Mountain House Meals

Yeah I bought one of their 72 hour "kits". Tastes really similar to Mountain House to me. Could come off the same assembly line for all I know. Price is better when buying it like that compared to the expense of Mountain House. I bought it for a long weekend trip into the mountains. Fed me...

What is your preferred shelter? (Rooftop Tent vs Ground Tent vs Etc...)

Back of my Jeep if it's just me or one other person. More than that I'll bring a Kelty 4 person ground tent.

PSA for those who may not know...Tow balls are NOT recovery points!

I've watched that video and seen it pop up multiple times on various forums. All I gathered from it is that if you abuse your vehicles to the point of causing the frame and hitch damage equipment fails. Who would have thunk it.......

    Garmin BaseCamp vs Google Earth

Its just a Nuvi 1450 that i bought years ago that included lifetime maps. So you just download map updates as needed.

    Garmin BaseCamp vs Google Earth

I keep a Goolge Drive Folder full of my GPX files. I use basecamp quite a bit. Infact I've got a GPS unit sitting on my shelf that I never use for anything other than updating the maps on Basecamp for trip planning, it had lifetime maps and traffic when I bought it. I've never had luck using...

Boot warmer/dryer to heat up a sleeping bag (anyone ever tried this?)

Maybe one of these set on low and plugged into a standalone power supply like a small solar generator or the like. Slide it into your sleeping bag. 12v Seat Heater

what PSI do you run on trails?

On my XJ I'll air down to 20psi if I know I'm going to be offpavement for most of the day. Probably unhook the swaybar as well. Really helps smooth out the ride off pavement.

FOR SALE Coleman 424 Dual Fuel Stove Greenville, Tx

60 Dollars Had this stove for a few years now. Wanting to move into something a little more compact in the height department. And honestly the dual fuel feature is just something I don't really use all that often. Will run on Coleman white gas or Unleaded Gasoline. I'll also include the...

Door locks and windows slowing down

Sorry forgot what year your XJ is. Late models (97+) used Group 34 batteries and earlier models took Group 58 batteries. I think a 34 will fit in a an earlier model but can't remember right off, I'd need to do some NAXJA searching.

Door locks and windows slowing down

Dual battery isn't absolutely necessary. I ran a winch for years on a single battery, just make sure your battery is in good shape. The XJ doesn't have a ton of space under the hood for a second battery to start with. The stock alternator on the XJ puts out 90ish amps. You can upgrade to a...

Door locks and windows slowing down

Could be a multitude of problems. Battery going dead, alternator getting worn out. At idle speeds your alternator isn't putting out as much power as it does at higher engine speeds so your higher load electrical items are running off battery power. One thing you need to make sure are 100...

Are cannon-style stubby dual band antennas pretty worthless?

Antennas don't take up much space. The stubby can be tossed in the center console or glove box. the longer ones can be stored on the floor between the seat base and rocker panel.

Are cannon-style stubby dual band antennas pretty worthless?

^^^ That would be a good option. Run the stubby when you don't need the range of the longer antennas.

Are cannon-style stubby dual band antennas pretty worthless?

Ah wasn't paying attention didn't realize you were in a Wrangler. It'll be better than a short stubby with no ground plane. The 1/2 wave doesn't need a ground plane like a 1/4 wave does. It still benefits from it but it's not as necessary. I've seen plenty of little "stands" for lack of a...

Are cannon-style stubby dual band antennas pretty worthless?

You're not going to get good performance out of VHF frequencies but UHF it should perform acceptably in a good location with a good ground plane. A quarter wave UHF antenna is about 6 or 7 inches. A half wave is about double that. You can probably make it resonant on VHF but you're going to...

    Military Decal?

Prior service Marine here. Spent all my time in the Air Wing though, spinning wrenches on CH53s, C130s, and V22s. Unless you retire or are medically discharged we don't really get anything "issued" that shows we are veterans. Most states have a system in place now where you can show your...
