    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

It has been awhile since I have posted anything about my vehicle due to things being rather quiet (weather has been nasty this summer) but I still have my Outback. It just completed an almost 3600-mile roundtrip back to Portland metro. While there, I visited my favorite offroad shop, Rallitek...

    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

If one can see in the photo above (previous post), my Outback needed an alignment to fix the rear toe. The dealership managed to get it done but it is not perfect but within spec. Sometime this summer, I am thinking about heading back to where it was built and see the crew at Rallitek and see...

US Rocky Mountain 5th Annual JUNE JAM in Buena Vista, CO

I might take up your suggestion in terms of being in the passenger seat since it can be a good learning opportunity in that way. :)

I have done several trails in Oregon, Washington, and in Colorado with that Subie. I know what it is capable of doing but I haven't fully pushed it. In terms of your question about my lift, that is actually 1.5" with an additional 0.4-0.5" in the rear.

Mine is a Subaru Outback that can do most moderate trails. If people would like to do the harder moderate trails, I do not want to stop them due to my vehicle. Here is a photo of my Outback when it did WABRD in 2021.

Sounds like fun but I do not know how my overlanding vehicle would handle the trails. It depends on which side of moderate level they are.

    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

Very slight update. The new suspension is on the Outback, after trying to get the very old, dirty, and rusty suspension off. In terms of how it feels, it is stiff but not as stiff as some warned me about. This might be due to that I was used to the stiffness of the rear overload springs.

    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

Just a bit of an update on the Outback. After a recent overlanding trip near Colorado Springs, I could feel that my suspension is a bit on the tired side but nothing is leaking. Current suspension setup: fronts-KYB struts and OEM springs and the rear-original struts with Rallitek overload...

    New Vehicle 2023 Outback

Congrats on your new Outback. I have owned Subarus since 1999. I am currently on my 3rd and 5th Subarus. My overlanding one is a 2014 Outback which has been modded for overlanding with 3 skid plates which have protected important components underneath the car. Mine is lifted 1.5" which...

    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

Before I started doing all of these upgrades, my gas mileage averaged 25-26 mpg. Nowadays, I am getting 21-23 mpg. Sometimes I can get it back to 25 mpg when I am just cruising on the highway for long distances. So the gas mileage did drop a bit but it is not super terrible. My Outback...

    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

Awww...thank you. Very nice 2017 My sleep setup is pretty simple which is just a Luno air mattress, USB powered fans, a bag for my shoes (attaches to the car's body), screens, pockets, curtains, and my Bluetti portable battery. It has a bit of a downfall though...storage. I always have to...

    Overlanding 2014 Subaru Outback

t has been a long time since I updated this thread. Where do I start about my car? Not too long ago, the traction boards were reinstalled onto my basket. Also, the Diode Dynamics flood clear pods and put in Drive in amber in hope to see when it is foggy or dense snow in the mountains. I really...

Can Subarus drive on the beach?

I have a good amount of experience driving my Outback on the beach but up in the Pacific Northwest. I did it when it was stock as well as with my lift on it. When I did it, I mainly did it where the sand was not deep or super soft so that it was not likely to get stuck. I am not saying that...

    2022 Subaru Outback

Congrats on your new Outback. I have thoroughly enjoyed my Outback for the last decade. Mine has been modded a bit. It has been an excellent vehicle and pretty reliable.

Changing directions, new 2023 Subaru Outback build

Congrats on your new camping rig. I have been camping in my 2014 Outback which is lifted 1.5 (yes mine is taller than the Wilderness but the Wilderness beats mine with ground clearance I believe) and has full skid plates from Rallitek as well as rear overload springs. The overload springs help...

OB class and meetup at the Overland Expo series in 2023

This year's Overland Expo in Loveland was an absolute blast. I have already ordered and paid for my ticket for next year's. If OB needs a bit of help, feel free to ask. Otherwise, I will look forward to attending and meeting other OB members. I will be there the entire weekend. :)

I have several A/T tires on my overlander, which is a Subaru. I have used the following: Geolandars G015 A/Ts-quiet and do not take away much gas mileage. Cooper Discoverers A/T3W 4Ss - Quiet and there are several different loads with this tire Nitto Nomad Grapplers-quiet and I have taken...
