New ford bronco capabilities. Is jeep in big trouble?

they aren’t full sized Broncos... they are slightly smaller in size to a Gen 1 Bronco. Full sized Broncos refer to the 1978-1996 Bronco (Gen2-gen5) built on the F-150 platform. The new Bronco is on a Ranger platform so it’s being called a Mid Sized Bronco. The Bronco sport is slightly larger...

    Recovery gear ratings?

Yes I know they were meant to intentionally fail... that being said... did you see how much power was behind the failed strap... with a few slices and weakened points, there was still enough stored energy to kill some one.. a proper chain won’t fail... hence the 5/16” chain he used as a safety...

    Overlanding in March, too early?

This year southern Idaho, Central Oregon, are your best bets... snow is down at 1000 feet here... and lots of snow... we just got dumped on for almost 2 maybe 3 weeks straight in Oregon and Washington. Higher elevations aren’t going to be reachable until early summer.

Experiment with the placement of the antenna on the cookie sheet... I’m not sure if a cookie sheet would be big enough to make a difference or not... but to make a vertical antenna semi directional you put more radials on one side than the other... so moving the antenna around on the cookie...

That and a cookie sheet would work... there is a guy locally that is doing that and hitting the repeater about 60 miles from his QTH.

MFJ makes a window pass through bulkhead for coax... they aren’t cheap... and then the home brew method would be to take a bulk head so-239 connector and pass through a painted piece of plywood to go through the sliding window. Then the way I did mine was used an 8” SO-239 bulkhead fitting...
