I don't think my fridge is that efficient. Plus I do a lot of solo tripping. It would suck to get stranded with a dead battery in the middle of no where.
So I run a 65 at fridge on the same truck. I have had some mornings in the past where it started but was close. Because of this I installed an extra battery and an isolator kit. I also purchased a 100w solar kit for the trips where I am staying put for a couple days.
RAM 2500 Custom RTT Rack...
I will probably add one more to each side. The cheap ones I threw on there leave a lot to be desired as far as lighting up the perimeter. I will have to do some digging to find a good wide and bright scene light.
I only had today off this week. And with the Coyote Works Oregon trip just 5 days away I needed to get a few things done.
First I replaced the Rigid Radiance ditch lights with a set of Baja Designs S2 Pros. I was not satisfied with the light output of the Rigids. They are a great scene light...
So I a little behind on the updates.
Last weekend I was finally able to complete the Aux Battery upgrade. The snag was due to the main battery cable that came with the isolator kit ended up about 3 feet short. So I had to order a longer one. Because of the added distance, I decided to step up...
I get it. I guess my reasoning is this,
Why would I need cables or a jump pack?
Well my battery failed.
What is the primary component in a jump pack?
It's a battery, that can also fail.
Not saying it's not a great idea to have one. Because it is. They are super handy if maintained ...
Unless another lone wheeler happens to come by to help......but also used that reasoning....
As a rule, I do not rely on someone else to save me. If it happens to work out that someone has a piece of gear that I forgot, fine, but I really try to ensure I can sustain myself. Just the way I'm built.
I also just carry a good heavy set of cables. I do a lot of solo tripping. Because of this, I added a third battery with an isolator to run my fridge and other accessories. I also just bought a Renogy 100 solar panel kit that could be used to slow charge the starting batteries if they get...
I would also be curious as to how much power the various off brand panels actually make. I have read a few reviews and the advertised rating and the real output in good sun was very different.
