    Favorite Tire Repair kits?

Push through tire plugs are a polarizing subject for tire people, with the overwhelming consensus of tire manufacturers that they are temporary "hardship" or "emergency" repairs where the tire is a highway use tire. I agree with that and am not interested in debating it. However, that said...

    Mason Jars

Hmmmmm, two things come to mind with mason jars: Heavy Fragile If it works for you cool, but seems like a bad choice in circumstances where weight and durability are a consideration.

Preordered my Rivian R1T this weekend

Interesting thing for sure, I wish they would do something different with the front. Kind of looks like they just ran out of ideas and just said, "eh leave it like that." One concern I would have with any offroad intents is the ability to moderate torque and put it to the ground. Electric...

When does cost of a vehicle to build matter to you?

When is vehicle expense a concern? Always. And you will always have it in one form or another. I built hot rods for many years, but they were also my daily driver, too many long nights I spent under one of them fixing them so I could go to work in it in the morning that was only a few hours...

    News concerning western Alps

Not withstanding any inconvenience or hazard to occupants and/or residents of the area, the power of the Earth, the natural geologic forces at play, is terrifying and awe inspiring at the same time. When you look at a mountain range and consider the power used to form it, it simply boggles the...

    Hurricane Dorian Evac spot

Very generous, many in our community hosted Katrina evacuees. Many went away with a fresh understanding of how much people suck. Kudos for making an effort to do the right thing.

Snake Shot: Do you use it for your trail/camp gun when overlanding?

I have killed dozens if not hundreds of copper heads and water moccasin with shovels, axes, knives and shot a few. Every dog I have has been bit, most several times. We keep inject able diphenhydramine and antibiotics in inventory specifically for that reason. I hate me some venomous snake and...

Need help choosing my first set of AT tires!

No, I have not used them in the snow. They are however "snow rated" and I can tell you based on siping and tread design I would expect them to be effective in the snow. They are LT rated (6pr) and are the first Falken branded tires I have owned. I did however sell and have owned Ohtsu (Falken...

Need help choosing my first set of AT tires!

I can dig it, skinny tires are under appreciated. I had a 1965 Dodge D100 with a 318 Polyspherical and deep 4 speed on 700-15 Goodyear Custom Extra Grip, despite being 2wd that truck would claw it's way through almost anything. 900-16 was offroad king for decades, I love the tall skinny tires.

Need help choosing my first set of AT tires!

I have been very impressed with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W that cam on my Gladiator. I have not had them long enough to give a terminal review, but I can say they are quiet, have good road manners and crazy traction for an AT. Very pleased so far

    Any vegan overlanders out there?

Some good stuff here, I eat much less meat than I used to though I am certainly not vegan. Hopefully a full on vegan diet has not interfered with your sense of humor.
