This is an OLD thread but I wanted to share an update. My sport trac has been sold but here is some more inspiration for those who are building a trac.
I think the mat would be best used in either humid places, or near the beach. A friend of mine had an issue along the coast of Washington state with it while fishing. He made his own mat and its worked great for him.
THAT is an extensive response!!! I appreciate the comment and most of what you said is great to hear, since a hard shell is what I'm aiming for next. I think depending on what one I get I may or may not be able to use the tips about the ladder. But the TV trays are genius!

I have a new in the box driver or passenger side bucket seat. We decided we didn't like the style of it for our truck. Maybe this is perfect for you. Also have a set of overload leaf springs 2.5 inches wide with wedges and center bolts.

This is our 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4wd. Not too much going on here. I changed the rack to a full bed rack and moved the tepui to the rack instead of the roof. Not much of a build but it's our glamping toy. Enjoy!
