    ID-WY-UT-CO-NM Spring Thaw Advice

Nearly all the high elevation mountain passes in Colorado will still be closed. It would be a pretty good time to visit UT Canyonlands as it won't be so hot yet.

    US West Colorado trip planning

Is it safe to assume you're looking to do the popular trails around you Ray such as Imogene and Engineer passes?

    US West Colorado trip planning

First, I would recommend you not come before mid to late June because many of the most popular high elevation trails may not be clear till then.

    Traverse Utah

Sounds like a great trip! Have you checked to see when Rimrocker usually opens? Since there is some elevation there it may be still blocked with snow in the spring. Also, have you looked at getting your white rim camping reservations, etc? There can be quite the lead time.

US East Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

Oh, I've spent my nights in Wal-Mart parking lots and have nothing against it. It's the idea of a ground tent on the pavement that just seems weird.

US East Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

Thanks for sharing. I've got a friend that talks about this guy. I've been meaning to look him up. I agree with him completely. I'm a bit of a minimalist in this sport/hobby/lifestyle. I was honestly concerned about serving in my OB positions because I don't possess a skottle or...

US East Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

I was assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that some would be uncomfortable spending the night in a tent in the Wal-Mart parking lot. And I'm not speaking from a safety perspective. It just seems weird to me. I'm probably the only one with that hangup. LOL. But maybe that's because I'm not a tent...

    12V Wiring Help

It would stink to stow the tent to later realize the switch was in override. It's a significant concern.

    12V Wiring Help

Oh, I completely understand. I don't know that the override was requested by the OP. I just incorporated it because that's what I would want.

US East Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

I asked because I was wondering how comfortable folks would be in a tent at Wal-Mart.

    12V Wiring Help

Yes, that should work fine if you don't want the tent switch to override the trailer switches.

US East Running the Trans America Trail (TAT) from WV to the OR coast

Is anyone planning a ground tent for their sole sleeping arrangement?

    Colorado BDR

Thanks. I was under the impression that some portions were single track only and required a detour for trucks. I don't recall where I got that from, however.

I'd love to see the route you're planning.
