When I'm base camping, I tend to default to the Ironton Park area. It's convenient to Ouray, Silverton, Ophir, Imogene, Corkscrew / Hurricane / California. It's not all that convenient to Engineer and Cinnamon, however. There are several dispersed spots in the woods, but also bigger open...

Oh, and Imogene did have a few rough spots last year. Just take it slow and easy. Use low range and first gear when descending hills as necessary.

Several of us are hoping to find some dispersed camping within a reasonable distance. However, much of the area we might look at is now a burn scar as I understand it. If you find something promising, please let us know.

If you've done Hurricane and California you've probably done Corkscrew.
Any chance you'll be doing the Moab trip in Oct? That would be a good one to combine with Rimrocker if you have enough time.
I love Rimrocker because it takes you some where, but it's not nearly as fun as the trails at...
