Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
What about adding an additional leaf on a 1/2 ton? I'm looking at getting a truck soon for overlanding, pulling a small overland trailer, no more than 1500lbs. However in the future I plan on getting a camper also for the wife and kids. I'm not against getting a 3/4 ton, but if the 1/2 ton works...
Ya I'm definitely leaning more toward the 3/4 ton, however unfortunately fuel mileage also has to come into play. And the 1/2 generally gets better fuel mileage.
Also I have looked into the BDS coilover systems for the front of the 3/4 ton which would help with the stock suspension issues...
Alright everyone I'm looking to get my overland rig and have my sights set on a 2003-2006 Chevy Silverado (my favorite body style), crew cab to fit the family. Full-size truck is just the way to go for me. However my dilemma is I can't really decide if I should get a 1/2 or a 3/4 ton pickup...
Looks awesome! I love how you fit 35s and it doesn't look overly tall and top heavy. I plan on purchasing a crewcab Silverado as well when I start my build and I was thinking 33s would be the biggest I'd go because I didn't want to have to lift it too much. But this is making me rethink that...
James I am loving this build! I'm actually going to be starting on my own small trailer build this year. Similar plans for it but a different starting point. I also happen to live in Caldwell as well. I'd love to check out your trailer sometime!
Anyone have any recommendations for some easy/moderate trails in the Treasure Valley area? I don't know of many places and would like to explore a little. Ideally something within a days drive to start off. TIA
Awesome!! This is that same platform I plan on using for my overland build. I love the classic bodystyle Silverados and Sierras. [emoji869] It's good to see more people building fullsize rigs. I'll definitely be following along as the build progresses. Keep us updated!
