Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Good trip. Fun times, nice meeting ya'll. Not enough time to get fully acquainted but here's hoping to seeing ya'll on the trails again!
Great way to learn your rigs capabilities in the snow and slush haha. And recovery techniques!
Congratulations mate!
You took an analytical approach to something most people just want to be told the answer for haha. That's a kick butt setup, when you take it offroad you will have one of the best!
See ya out on the trail!
If your rig is also a daily driver you might try hot swapping, if you have room. That way your offroad tires last longer.
Keep a set of cheapo rims and run your city slicks on that. And then when it comes time before the trip throw on your offroad wheels and tires.
Sometimes the junkyards...
Of course Jeep can compete, and will shine for off the lot off road capability. Whats wrong with their axle? Its been working great for decades now.
Key words there, "if done right." Nothing off the lot is going to be some trophy truck with built IFS. IFS cons are still weak lower control...
You could try the Yuba gold fields:

I think a fun intro would be Poker Flats trail and a good 1 nighter. But you do want to go with another rig:
39.558018,-120.834354
You could also just explore the forest roads in the Bowman Lakes complex. Tons of places to camp and...
I don't feel any of the terrain on Broken Arrow trail would stop that rig and trailer setup.....except the traffic. There are some tight sections at the beginning with trees.
That's a very popular trail and you may have to back up with it.
Alltrails app shows its closed by the US Navy for an environmental assesment. But I can't find anything recent. And if so that's like the 3rd time they have conducted one. 2017 had a big closure.
Suppose someone just has to drive out there and see. BLM shows it open.
Sounds like more big gov trying to keep the public off public land.
I was there a few weeks ago and it was pretty darn clean. Small stuff like wrappers and bottle caps, I cleaned my area; but there really wasn't anything big.
Not that a cleaning wouldn't help...but what happened this time?
I shall ride to Valhalla shiny and chrome!
The Power Wagon is a hog on fuel but a warthog on the trail. Its ugly, big, and I often get told on the trail I won't make it, and it crawls right over the doubters. Not much will stop her, and that's what I bought it for. It's solely used to...
There's still snow in NorCal, melting fast though. You could take the Plumas BDR, and then move onto the Shasta BDR. Right now sections will have snow.
Failing that take the costal trail up and enjoy the views.
Oh did I your point? ...or were you just to quick to rant without rereading my prior posts and taking it out of context. They are fine in the cities and pavement overlanding...for like the 5th time.
I'm all for advances in tech, I don't need a lecture about naysayers in what I'm guessing is...
One would think a physicists/engineer would wr
I'm with @bgenlvtex, you're heading for analysis paralysis...
You want someone to talk some reason into you when it sounds like you have made your mind up for Toyota. If you are going to apply amorphous concerns like "predicted reliability," you...
Down is always easier, got gravity working for ya haha!
I came up Lippincott with a Ram 2500 Power Wagon during Thanksgiving. The only section that was sketch is the washout part. Your rear tire will be on that edge, and probably go over a metal stake pounded in the ground there. I threw...
That would be a long beast depending on the trail, but folks have done it before. Maybe overkill for the axle, but It beats the crude out of any trailer with rubber torsion axles.
You might watch this guys channel to help you out.
