Might as well start at the beginning. "Sawatch" (2022 Tacoma)

Good looking truck man! Can’t wait to see more of the build! It’s nice starting with a fresh clean slate! I have a Bronco, and am doing the same thing as you as I outfit it and get it ready to explore!

    Overland Bronco 27114

Today I was able to order the Gobi Stealth Rack for the Bronco! During this entire tenure, I have relied on patience, God given patience! Originally I had ordered a Hard Top Bronco with Roof Rack, and a placed an order for a GFC Superlite. Then we had some constraints on the Bronco, and I blew...

    Overland Bronco 27114

We left Wears Valley last Thursday, and made our way home to Florida. We hopped on Hwy441 south and drove through the Smoky Mountains, and then down into Cherokee, North Carolina. As we were pulling in, we see these enormous beauties standing in the center of town! We stopped at Peter’s...

Why HD vehicles should NOT be discounted as overlanding rigs strictly because of MPG...

I have a 2021 Ford Bronco that is my “overland rig” (quoted cause it’s also my DD, and I’m still building). I am averaging 19.1mpg right now on 33” wheels. I don’t know what weight I have in it, but daily I am carrying a locking storage system, filled with tools and recovery gear. I have...

    Overland Bronco 27114

I left Florida Sunday after attending the Southeast Overland and Offroad Expo in Starke, FL on Saturday! My Badlands Bronco has the 2.3L and 10 speed transmission, which has the 33” wheels and the 4.43 gear ratio. I have been averaging 18.5-19mpg around town, I reset it every tank, and that’s...

US Southeast Southeast Overland & Off-Road Expo

Tag whoever this is? Also, I was alongside a Black Tundra on 75 today with his badge on the front drivers fender, you pulled in behind me but I didn’t see where ya parked else I would have introduced myself! I know some of y’all were there, but my visit was a quick one! Heading to Tennessee...

    Overland Bronco 27114

So let me tell ya where I’m at! I have installed an ARB Twin Compressor under hood and wired it up. Then we put a Midland Micromobile GMRS radio in the glovebox. There are some RAM mounts on the “bring your own device” rail I purchased aftermarket, I have the ZOLEO mount kit attached to that...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I finished the ARB Twin Compressor install - wired to one of the Upfitter Switches, and also installed a Midland Micromobile GMRS in the Bronco!

    Overland Bronco 27114

My weekend was “free” I did pay a deposit, which was refunded, and I did pay for insurance. Since I was an early reservation holder Ford gave me a $250 Credit for a guest, or to buy merchandise there. I ended up paying for me wife and used the credit for shirts and goodies for the family. Was...

Update with the pics of the Fridge Slide on the Tuffy Drawer, and a photo next to the Maverick. We spent some time at the Bronco Off Roadeo weekend before last and I was highly impressed with the capability. Excited for my trip to TN in March, but I may end up escaping sooner with the ground tent!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I installed a fridge slide on top of my Tuffy Lock Box, and it works with the way the soft top lifts.

Ford Maverick and the small overlanding pickup truck

We got our Maverick, FWD Hybrid, Base Model with Tow = $21,500! I did not buy this for Overland Trips, unless it’s pure Hwy or gravel roads. This is my daughters truck to go to College and toss a few bales of hay in the back. With that being said, I love it. I’m 6’1” and 240lbs. I fit in the...

I haven’t had a chance to find a box, and take measurements. Heading out of town this weekend, will definitely look to make a box for it when I get back.

    Critical Gear for getting started

A lot of great posts above with recommendations. The main thing is to just get out and use what you have. Grab a cooler, a folding chair, you’re just doing day trips? Pack a picnic and go! Make sure you let someone know where you’re going. Once you do it a few times you’ll start to see what...

So I got some lights installed this weekend, as well as a catch can. Heading to the Austin Texas Bronco OffRoadeo in less than 2 weeks with the wife, so super excited for that! Here are some photos of the Bronco with the lights, and the catch can install.

Rethinking many aspects of our Overlanding setup and goals.

Teenagers…. The digital/social media kids. So how to get your daughter to enjoy the outdoors? Put another screen in her face! I’m serious, a nice digital camera, and encourage her to start shooting landscapes and animals. Encourage her to open an Instagram for just those types of photos...
