    Most organized/guided tours now use GMRS as a standard. I would recommend Midland GXT67 handheld to start with, it is practically indestructible and will run a long time on a charge.

    Anyone attempting the Continental Divide Trail this month needs to pay attention to the weather around Grants NM. They are under a flood watch so this means the track from Pie town to Grants is going to be very slick, please use the bypass that goes north west of Pie Town. GPX viewer
