Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I've tested a few of the Baofeng radios with a power meter and dummy load and have yet to have one put out rated power. The closest I've gotten is 4.5W with my UV-5RA and a friend's "8 Watt" version put out about 7 watts max.
My kids got me a 20oz Wal-Mart cup last year I use for my sipping coffee. I recently bought a Stanley 2QT bottle that will easily hold a full 12 cup coffee maker full. I'll fill my cup, put the rest in the Stanley and take them both to the garage. It's worked really well for a couple hours worth...
The little Baofeng's are popular and one of them really renewed my interest in Ham radio after being away from the hobby for a while. So I can't really knock them. BUT, you have to be careful because they can cause some issues, such as being able to transmit on frequencies you shouldn't be on...
I picked up another Kenwood TM-D710Ga radio for my pickup on the Black Friday sales at HRO. I also scored a second hand Trasharoo for the trailer for a good deal from a guy in the Xterra circles.
I did some tablet shopping but got so disgusted with how the specs and info is listed online...

Hey folks! The year has mostly passed us by now and we've had ok turn out for the meetups! I want to thank everyone who was able to get out and hang out with us for a bit.
Here are my thoughts for the year:
I really enjoy getting to meet everyone and spend time hanging out over some good BBQ...
I had a great time this evening everyone! Looking forward to getting together with everyone again when we can.
I think Brian was on to something with the "around a fire" comment!

I have Ham and GMRS. Ham is a hobby for me too but one that offers a world of good information about effective communication and equipment operation that will improve your setup overall.
GMRS has is a good alternative for those not willing to take the test though.
You really can't. They average all four wheel speeds and send that to the dash. There is one company that makes a piece you splice into the dash. There are rumors Nissan can actually change it but no one I've heard of has managed to find a dealership that will try. Maybe you'll have some luck to...
