Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
OK, sounds like I had the right idea I was just using incorrect terminology, and not being complete in my explanation. Anyway I agree that unless you are competing at a high level it doesn't matter.
So another no real progress update here, just to keep things from dying. The holiday season was honestly a kick in the balls for us, some more medical expenses means the 4BT will have to wait. I will be pressing on with the small block I already have. Next weekend I get rid of the body which...
No emissions deletes are actually removing the DPF, DOC, SCR, and EGR (what VW (and actually Dodge as well with the EcoDiesel) did is they had multiple fuel maps for their engines. During normal service they run in one way, then as soon as you plug in with a diagnostic tool different parameters...
If you aren't reading any RPM could be an issue with the crank position sensor. It could also simply be because the voltage is dropping too low during cranking for the ECM to run.If the ECM isn't getting an RPM signal or at least 10volts it will not fire the injectors. If you have an auto parts...
@Sailmike just going to throw in a few things here, most bead locks are not DOT approved and thus technically illegal to run on public roads. So long as you don't get crazy with airing down and your wheels are the appropriate width for the tire (or just a bit narrower) you wont have any...
The Vette frame is plenty strong, I'm more worried about the rear differential being strong enough. But this is one big reason to go with a 4BT rather than the 6BT, the second is weight. A moderately built 4BT will get you to around 300HP (stock they are only 140hp), well within what the Vette...
I do quite a bit of exploring in an 05 Ford Escape. The most important thing will be understanding how that AWD system works. Simply knowing how the computers direct power front to rear and side to side if you have traction control can help you massively when negotiating terrain. Honestly the...
Short little update. I haven't done any actual work on the Rat-Lander, with the holidays I've been a bit busy. I did however find a buyer for the Corvette body. Hopefully shortly after the first of the year I will get my dad's tractor out here to lift the body off of the frame and onto...
For an off road trailer only thing I would wonder about is how the trailer tire tread and tire compound would handle slick or loose terrain. My thoughts would be to run an AT tire to help in that regard.
It all comes down to doing your research and weighing pros and cons. I have experienced enough to not discount anything just because its low cost, or because of where it is made. Just like I have enough experience to not automatically trust something because of where it is made or how much it costs.
Got a little more work done. The body is completely free of the frame, I just need to figure out how to lift and move it now. The passenger footwell body mount was extremely bad, thank you SnapOn Flank Drive for biting and holding. The passenger side engine body mount was a bear as well. Due to...
I love seeing the Big 3 start to innovate again. I'm starting to think Toyota has some catching up to do.
I think its great to have the power stuff already there, no worrying about how to best rout and install stuff and if it will void warranty.
Well as luck would have it some of my plans fell through today. I was supposed to be working on a buddy's Freightliner but he had to grab a load and rip out of town. So I had a bit of time in the shop.
I fired up the heater, cranked the music and started some house keeping. My shop is never a...
I would look into standard ham. From what I know of Rugged Radios they broadcast on their own section of the VHF and UHF bands and between that and a licensing agreement with the FCC you don't need a license to operate them. Basically with a Rugged, you can only communicate with other Ruggeds.
