Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I say take the Willys. It wouldn't be the most fun rig to drive to the starting point but it sure would be a blast on the trail. Will you be doing any part of the trail in WY? I might be interested in joining you for that part or possibly ID or OR.
Wow very nice truck, what a lucky young man. Welcome to owning an old Jeep. Make sure you are getting parts for the correct 230ci Jeep engine when you order. Most parts guys that know the difference and how to use catalogs are long gone. I have a few M715s myself.
They used to only do lunch from 11-2 or 3 Monday through Friday and a lot of times if you were late they would be out of some of the menu items.
Dickinson also had a dinosaur museum, not sure if it will be open or not. Lots of tourist attractions like museums close down in the winter.
Which way...
Nice trip. Check Medora out and stop at "The Wurst Shop" in Dickinson ND for lunch. It's a German butcher shop with deli attached, awesome food. I worked in Dickinson for a year and then Williston for almost two years. Love western ND and eastern MT.
Sounds like you'll be doing this trip more than just once? If so I wouldn't be too worried about having a set route but instead kind of take the trip with the idea of checking out places you would like to explore more in depth on a later trip. I've worked and traveled quite a bit in the upper...
Sounds like a fun trip. I'm ordering a Detroit locker for the rear of my Jeep and will have it installed before the trip. I'm driving over Saturday and spending that evening somewhere near Stevenson.
I'll watch your videos tonight. I recognize the road, I used to ride dirt bikes all over there in the mid to late 90s. Usually every other weekend we would go up there for a day or two.
I grew up in the Redwood Forest area, Humboldt County CA. September is probably about the best time of year to visit as far as weather and tourist traffic go. I was just down there the end of February to see me mom and mother in law. If you need any ideas on places to see ask away.
Yes. I've owned a few. They were about 20 gallons each and in a crewcab dually 4x4 with a big block and a 4 speed I needed every last gallon to do about 100 miles in mountainous terrain towing a trailer with 6 tons of scrap metal on it. Forty miles empty with just the trailer and then 60...
I have two and have used them for 10+ years. Awesome tents. Quick to set up, takes longer and is better with two people if you do the awnings and stuff but just the tent itself is super easy. They are heavy but not bad for me, the biggest issue is the 5 series is long when packed. Very nice...
