Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I think so and hopefully it sticks and the culture in the US grows in a positive way as a result. At least in the regions I grew up and live in the outdoors are very unappreciated. I think the RTT is a big factor in the explosion of interest. City people are just very unlikely to entertain the...
The knives that came in our Coleman campware kit are razor sharp. Sliced my hand open doing dishes on one.
If those don’t cut it... I got 2 little wicked sharp knives, I don’t know what they are for specifically but they cut most things.
For more utilitarian things I keep my kabar in the truck...
I generally monitor the KQ2H (repeater on 146.46 is N2ACF), W2MPX and W2UHF. There is almost always someone on one of these. I can monitor up to 4 channels at a time and I will rotate in KB2RQE, W2AKR or NJ2PC. Radio is on 24/7 and I work next to it 8 hours a day. I have to turn it down to get...
It’s a nice area, IMO it’s the best part of NJ, the closest thing we have to America here. Just brace yourself for paved roads. Everything is paved. But it’s cool seeing some of the mountains go straight into the giant lakes
You may want to consider parts of NJ. You can get to some parts of manhattan and Brooklyn faster from Fort Lee NJ or Jersey City than if you lived in Queens (tested this many times lol) plus you have a much shorter drive to all the good stuff
As @Specter has pointed out in an earlier post, this is a very valuable thread. Fortunately I don’t have any horror story to contribute and hopefully it stays that way
I like clearing the dead trees off the trail, eventually I want to get a ryobi 40v chainsaw once I decide the size I want and get the funds for it . For now, I just recently picked up a “fireman’s axe” from harbor freight because the weight, size and price made sense at the time.
Last year in...
Shortly after I picked up my truck years ago I needed bolt cutters. Bought a set, keep them in the truck 24/7
Haven’t used them since. Guarantee you 3 minutes after I were to take them out I would need them lol
I think it was originally on LeadNav but if I remember correctly a gpx file that can be used basically in anything is in that thread I shared previously
This is the setup for now. Will be putting this radio into the wife’s Xterra and will be throwing the same 75w radio I use at home in here... after I cut the dash a bit
