Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
That’s a must. Side note: if you go to PA state forest camp sites some of them are kinda unique in they are and aren’t vehicle camp sites. Now I wish I took a picture…
But there is a flat level spot to park the vehicle at each site and it’s separated from the fire ring and table by some yellow...
I’m really sorry to hear about your aunt.
We always take vacation time to do our trips. Beach camping is illegal in NJ. I would love to do it as well, is it legal in GA?
We also drive everywhere because I being cooped up on a bus/plane and dealing with the nonsense that comes with that.
Yea that looks like it would be a very epic trip! If I went to Aus I would probably be stuck trying to figure out how to bring home all the Adventure Kings crap I blew my money on lol
When was the last time you were in NJ?
Your truck setup is classic! I’m curious, how do you power camp? Do...
The wife and I really liked Graham’s solo adventure from last year. I would like to check out Western Australia like he did. …and maybe try to visit Oombulgari lol.
I’m just not sure how keen I am visiting a place where even the butterflies are poisonous and trying to kill me lol
That Kimberley trip was insane!!!
My frontier is the primary family adventure vehicle. About 4 times a year we do about 3 day long trips, just the wife and I. The routes are usually something like a BDR, nothing too extreme, we like to do that scenic and interesting stuff without trying to...
I could definitely imagine seeing your truck on the next episode of 4WD247 lol
But it’s funny because I put NJ in the title of this thread because I feel the location of a build has a big influence on the direction and end result. Where do you usually go with your truck?
Camping
Because this truck was built for adventure and camping I figured I would just throw in a little box showing how we get down and how the truck facilitates that.
There's a tent and some other stuff. I will give my opinions on these things here
Overland Vehicle Systems TMBK3 tent
I think...
Bed setup
I will document the evolution and genesis of the bed here.
12Apr22 Quick update: the camper shell is coming off for a while and the tent is going on the 6” rack over the old tonneau cover. How this setup works with the 270 awning is a bit interesting. More pics and details to come
Cabin setup for the curious (pics will be added)
The radio is QYT 8900D programmed with CHIRP
The head unit came with the truck, the USB broke on it and I accidentally broke the truck's antenna...so it's basically a big clock now lol. However we got a bluetooth adapter thing that also has USB...
Suspension and Tires
I'll discuss my experience with the different tires, and suspension components and setup here. I may draw comparisons to the wife's 2003 Xterra which runs different shocks, no lift and A/Ts
Tire reviews:
Westlake SL305 235/85R16
Westlake SL369 235/85R16
Milestar...
Engine and drivetrain mods
I will be posting how the snorkel was installed, differential breathers... if I get a supercharger I'll put how I did that in here also.
Pretty sure there will regearing details as well, and if I get ambitious - lockers
