Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
@First State Overland The photos on the first few pages are not showing, so I can't see how you attached your flexible solar panel. You mention Eternalbond; is that a double-sided tape, or did you put half on the panel and half on the roof? What width did you use. I don't want my panel blowing...
Mine is a Deluxe Road model, but that was the reason for me. It was hard enough convincing my wife, who hasn't camped with me for 25 years, to move up to the 5X8 from the 4X8 I was first discussing. Another $1000 for a foot longer was a non-starter.
Once you place an order, you can join the...
You know when something suddenly reminds you of a dream? Apparently, I've been thinking about this too much, because I just now remembered a portion of last night's dream on this topic. Here's my diagram again to follow along:
I was wiring my system up, and adding peripherals. I hooked my...
You should be good to go. If you've entered your location today, you'll need to wait until after midnight Pacific time for it to show up. You didn't have "Show on Map" toggled on, so I just did that.
Yep, my National Luna 90 Twin has three shutoff level settings. I've kept it on the highest (safest) setting for up to 48 hours in cold weather, and 36 hours in hot without it kicking in. I've not had to go longer, so I don't know when it would actually shut down. That's with both sides at 37°F...
Quite the contrary! You have been very helpful, and the linked articles were chock full of great information. I'd found Handy Bob's site last year, but apparently didn't bookmark it, and completely forgot about it. There is a lot of good information on that site!
I sent an email to NOCO last...
I don't think this would be the case. The output of the NOCO is 12V DC, only the input is 110V AC.
I *think* having the output of the charge controller and the output of the Genius 1 connected at the far end of an 8 foot wire is the same as if they were both connected directly to the battery...
@Road Do you connect your NOCO Genius *and* your solar charge controller to the battery at the same time? I'm looking at doing something like this, where the charge controller and Genius 1 are in the trailer's front box, and the battery and any distribution are at the rear.
Please excuse the...
We saw one of these in Grand Teton National Park a couple of years ago, and the quality is amazing. These things seem bombproof, practical, and with well thought out accessories. That slide-out shower stall with the water heater inside is a nice touch.
Good luck with the sale
You still can. Duplicates can be ordered here: https://store.overlandbound.com/collections/member-store
And it looks like you currently get a free mini-flag with your order.
This is nothing new for me. I used to be so focused (no pun intended) on photography during family vacations, that I used to joke that I had to wait until two weeks after I got home, to see the slides of my vacation, to know where we went!
I still take too much gear, but it spends a lot more...
Where were you a year ago, when I was ready to plunk down $1325 for a new one? That's a great deal, and ought to go quick! If not, put it on T4R.org for a wider audience.
If by suddenly, you mean over the past five to ten years, then yes, they have exploded onto the scene. "Everyone" does not have one, though. ;)
Here's a link to a list of Roof Top Tent threads. Several of them are about why people decided to go that route...
@emsdant Away from home for a few days, so quick reply on mobile. Yes, one membership can be used by both spouses. You can both join the forum and have the same member number in your profile. And you can order a pair of badges when you join, or order a duplicate from the Member store.
Chris, I put the KO2s on the day after I bought the new 4Runner, so I have next to nothing to compare. I now have 24 thousand miles on them, and they still look like new. I would definitely do it again.
