Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Sounds like a great trip. I'm sort of tending towards the shipping idea myself, having the vehicle I know and have built up its capability.
I'm thinking more of shipping into Canada instead of the US because the temporary import rules work slightly differently. If you ship into the USA I...
Unfortunately, the Friday Night HAM Radio NET will not operate this week September 10th due to the lack of a net controller.
If you would like to see this net continue, we need more net controllers to spread the workload and for those weeks where the regulars have other commitments.
If you...
You might consider reversing the nut bolt setup and use a channel nut and standard bolt. A fastener supply company (bolt supply) should have channel nuts, they usually come with an attached spring which you remove. You also use them sideways to the original intention so they will fit in the track.
I used to have one in Australia. I lifted it approx 2". Like most independent front suspensions you can't go too high without stressing out the CV joints. basically just springs and dampers.
Snorkels are a popular accessory here, the series 2 (96 onwards) one fits but overlaps the RHS indicator...
A vehicle that new would probably have a smart alternator, so a DCDC charger matched to that is probably the only option whatever battery tech you use.
Timely topic Ed.
I'm looking at storage options, particularly to fit in the space where my stove is now. Packing it with a blanket isn't going to cut it forever.
We've had 60cm FM CB in Australia since the 1980s. Took a few years to catch on but everyone in the overland community uses it now.
It's similar to GMRS but requires no licence and is on the other end of the 70cm HAM band.
Reminds me of a song from the 90's
"Central America means Kansas, right"
Seriously I'm in Tasmania, an island 300mi from the rest of Australia, I cannot tag posts with my region either.

A mattress that I'm researching has a layer of "hard" foam on the base. Although not for a RTT, the concept may have some merit being much lighter than wood.

G'Day,
Your Friday Night HAM Radio Net will be hosted from waaay-down-under again this week.
The topic will be "What's in your tuckerbox?" which probably needs some translation.
The meaning of which is what are those food essentials you always take on your Overlanding trips? Mostly those...

To answer your question regarding Anderson connectors being the same. No, they are not but if your Overland Solar Charger has the connectors installed you need to stick to that size and color (probably SB50 Gray).
The connectors vary by physical size for maximum Amp rating although 15-45 amp...
Here is my Barrett HF Mobile Outpost Transceiver, next to a familiar object so you can get a sense of the size of the unit.
As you may notice the unit is not the newest but I intend to keep it because it still works and would cost thousands of dollars to replace with a more modern unit.
