Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I finally installed the Daystar front spacers to level the truck...they added about 2" of height with the adjustable front links set to 3.5" (center-to-center). I ended up lengthening the rear adjustable links to also raise the rear about 1/2" because I like the look of the rear being a hair...
Well said. Although to be honest, the 1500 is pretty nimble for a full size...I was surprised how well it maneuvered through trees the first time I took it out in the woods in PA. If you don't mind some pin striping, there aren't many trails that it can't squeeze through.
Points for honesty! Same exactly with mine... If I could think of a good name, I'd run with it, but everything I can think of seems too contrived.
Some great names here in this thread though!
Here's a few pics from a couple towing excursions this summer... The first was to Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia, and the second was to Watkins Glen International in New York. These were my first times towing something, so I don't have any frame of reference, but the truck...
Thanks - it's made by Dethloff Mfg. It bolts directly to existing holes in top of the bed rails and bulkhead; the design concept is to accommodate opening/closing the Rambox compartments (nearly all other designs are not compatible with Ramboxes).
Here's a couple of pics of the mounting feet...
The next summer adventure in the truck was a family trip up to Martha's Vineyard. One of the highlights, from an overlanding perspective, was getting an OSV permit and doing some day trips through the dunes and along the beach on Chappaquiddick Island...nothing like a tailgate dinner while...
Here are a few pics from Rausch Creek this summer that show the rack with the cross bars. I didn't get any good video on this trip like at AOAA in the Spring, but once again, I was really impressed at what the truck could tackle. For a full size, it's quite nimble at slithering through the...
Yeah, looks like your rack would be really versatile like that.
Mine sits higher, so less practical to strap bulky items on top, but it sits high enough off the bed to still give plenty of room...and the cross bars are easily removable.
I haven't picked out an RTT yet, but I did attach a 62"...
Yup, totally agree. The factors I listed relate to the amount of bulge at a given pressure...and the ones you added relate to what amount of bulge is appropriate.
Speaking of which, what amount of bulge do you like for dirt road, off-road, and deep sand?
There's so many variables to consider for each rig (e.g. weight of vehicle, tire construction/load rating/aspect ratio, wheel width, etc.) that there's really just no other practical means of determining good air down pressure than looking at the tires.
This is a good test to perform to see what pressures look like on your own tires...obviously not a good idea to go down to 5 or even 10psi without beadlocks, but depending on your rig weight and tires, you may get good sidewall flex at 20 or 15psi.
