    So motorcycle overlanding

I've done that ride are you going to just go south or make it interesting and take a trip through the Rockies then back down? Are you planning to go to Key West? Keep in mind if you do the ride out to the keys is very slow!

    Few questions about military trailers

No idea do not have any experience with NATO equipment but US is the largest equipment provider of NATO equipment? You would have to look at the wiring and see if there are the steel stamped labels on the wires that correspond with the above diagram. In any event its easy to use a continuity...

    Sleeping Bags

I'm sold on Mountain Hardware bags been using them for years. I have upset of a lot of people climbing out of bed in underwear warm when others are freezing in full gear. I also bought one for my daughter's boyfriend and he couldn't be happier with it as well. You just need to purchase the...

    Few questions about military trailers

Hi Rob, I will try a few of these since I am a past owner of a 24v military trailer M116A3. Personally I cut off the NATO connector and hard wired in 4PIN standard wiring so anyone could use it. I suppose if you had both end of the connector you could make your own adapter. There is a lot of...

Help - Wheels and Tires for an 08 Land Rover LR2

Yeah I know wheel and tire combinations for the LR series is limited. If you can find the specification of the rim you might have a chance? Need to know bolt pattern, offset, dish and will likely need a larger diameter rim to accommodate the brakes. If you have a local 4wheel Parts or another...

Tall vs Wide Tires 1988 Land Cruiser

I think my next best action would be to mount up a 265/75/16 (current size) onto new rims look at clarence and make a decision. 255/85 are -.04" where as 285 +0.8" of course there are slight differences in manufacture. I would only need to run spacers in the front and fully aware they must be...

Best Bang for Buck Overland Rig

Xterra or a high millage Land Cruiser FJ80. If you can find an Xterra Off - Road model (comes with rear electric locker) even better. 1992 - 1997 FJ80 are excellent or get lucky with LX450 just keep in mind mods are expensive.

    Camping/Snow camping in NorCal?

SCrunner, there are TONS of places you can snow camp! It would help if we knew where you were starting from. Sierra Foothills (Nevada City) Bloomfield Rd., Yuba Pass Road, East Sierra Mono Lake, Bishop, Tahoe or Truckee, Head North towards Shasta right now you can go just about anywhere...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

I have been a fan of the Dick Cepek Extreme Country tires, deep lugs, good center pattern so they are not too loud and wear was decent on my LX450 (FJ80) KM2 Close second but BFG seems to be discontinuing 16" sizes getting difficult to find in 35".

Tall vs Wide Tires 1988 Land Cruiser

Yeah I am familiar, I have a different issue... Unlike the Nissan where you run out of wheel well space I have mechanical linkage physically in the way, its a clear or no clear. 80 series was easy! 70 series a lot more measurement is required without committing to very expensive modification...

Tall vs Wide Tires 1988 Land Cruiser

Shizzy, Yeah that was one of my considerations as well! I do have the ability to carry 2 spares but I agree availability is a concern. I'd have to measure against the rims I have to see if there is enough room to feel good about running 285. - Thanks

Tall vs Wide Tires 1988 Land Cruiser

Never keen about using spacers I have only seen 1 failure so they seem to be decent. I do not have my new shackles on yet to get final measurement of clearance in the wheels but sure I do not want to exceed 33".

Tall vs Wide Tires 1988 Land Cruiser

I have a unique truck HJ70 import from Australia do not have much of an interest in doing a SOA conversion and would like to leave it fairly stock. I do have slightly longer (non-reversable) spring shackles. Current tire size is 265/75/16(31.6") but I'd like to give a 255/85/16 (33.1) +4.1%...
