Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I've been pulling it out and setting it on top. I 'could' probably use it in there if I extended the ducts/hoses to be longer. I'd have to think about proper airflow. Right now there's a thick foam pad under that Climate Right so it doesn't bounce around on the road. The second thing is...
Most people I've seen (on the owners FB group) use an addon counter that hooks to the side, like this. Personally, my kitchen is in the back of my tow vehicle, so I use my for storage, power and plumbing.
Added a second 100W solar panel. Now pulling in 200W, hitting 19-20v. In full size now in the spring I'm hitting 10+ amps. This summer I expect 15-20amps of charge which will reduce the charge time in half for my battery bank. Side note: I was planning on putting the CVT RTT on the Hiker...
And since I'm here, I might as well post some updates to the trailer. Added a SAFH2O water purification system today. This will pull water from any source, filter it and sterilize it to fill the 21 gallon tank. It's powered from the solar bank so we pretty much have water indefinitely so...
Can't speak for Dana, but I've purposely put this trailer through it's paces as we build it out just to see how it handles off road and I have no complaints. And as you know, we've got this thing loaded down pretty good. (Yes, I still owe you a pic of the suspension, I know!)
Glad the video helps, Steve! Tell Wes we said hello. The other nice part is there's a very helpful Facebook page for Hiker Owners that the two owners and Randy, from Lead Dog (post above) are part of. Any questions or concerns get answered almost immediately. I know Wes and his team are...
As a JKU owner, I can you this, if I did not own a JKU and have it built out already for overlanding, I would own a T4R. And I love Jeeps. I have sacrificed the top down doors off ability for security of a hardtop full time to protect my gear. As others have mentioned, it's nearly unstoppable...
Added a secondary utility box in front behind the steel "battery" box that I'm using for storage. The large PVC box houses my Climate Right unit. In order to get it to open correctly, I reverse installed it so that the latch is hidden (which is a bonus) and it opens toward the trailer so the...
Time for another update:
Let's start with solar. The 100W flexible panel was mounted and lines where run using Eternabond (in white) - this stuff is amazing. Word of advice - plan carefully as once it sets, you're not getting it off of there. The two solar cables run under the Eternabond...
Started the electrical systems but a friend came over and we switched to installing the Alu-cab Shadow awning. If you've never installed one of these, let me just say, I don't know why they didn't pre-drill holes the length of the frame, but they didn't. So you either have to drill to match up...
I'm running the Lock and Roll hitch and it's working great so far. I love the peace of mind of knowing it can't come out of there. Wes and crew plumbed the fill (inlet) port for the fill and breather for me, but I'll be running the outlet and pump/filter system. I'm a little concerned about...
Guess I should update my own thread huh? I forgot I posted this! I did go with the Hiker and I picked it up this past weekend. Time to start adding all the mods. I ordered the rear tire carrier, under floor storage, climate control, 21 gal water tank with skid and dual screen door options...
We're heading up in June to hit several national parks. I've already ordered my pass a few weeks ago but it hasn't shown up yet. Plan on logging 4100 miles on the trip.
After a bath today, I added some door mounted side steps on all four doors. This makes it SO much easier to get at the roof gear now. Some updated photos.
We just picked up a Mavic ourselves. Are you piloting are using auto-track / follow on the drone? It looks like follow up until the point where you lost it going over the pavilion. I flew in some pretty high winds this weekend and the Mavic didn't budge an inch. Very impressive!
Not sure about the weight yet but I do have concerns about the weight distribution. When full the 21 gallon water tank is almost 175lbs itself, then toss in some heavy VMAX solar tank batteries at 100lbs each and your gear and we'll be rolling heavy. I specifically ordered the electric brakes...
