  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance this week and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    Something different. Let’s talk music.

Alt-country, Americana, bluegrass for traveling: Colter Wall, Vincent Neil Emerson, The White Buffalo, Greensky Bluegrass, Blitzen Trapper, John Moreland, Shovels & Rope, Charles Wesley Godwin. For intense things, good old rock & roll: Linkin Park, Seether, Hellyeah, Metallica, Slipknot...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Excellent choice! I’ve been using an ExPed Downmat UL Winter for the last few years when tent camping and backpacking. Quality mats, if a bit pricey, that hold up if you treat them well.

US Rocky Mountain Picket Wire Canyonlands Guided Auto Tour by US Forest Service (Colorado)

Definitely, I’d love to hear about your experiences camping in the T@g. I just did a 51 day trip in my baby - what a blast! However, I’m going fast & light on this trip, tent only.

US Rocky Mountain Picket Wire Canyonlands Guided Auto Tour by US Forest Service (Colorado)

I’m just passing through for a few days on my return trip from Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada Range. This is my last long road trip of the year. I’m excited for dinosaur tracks and petroglyphs - thank you for hosting this event!

US Rocky Mountain Picket Wire Canyonlands Guided Auto Tour by US Forest Service (Colorado)

All, I booked site #89 in the Lake Hasty Campground (John Martin Reservoir State Park) for October 29 & 30 (2 nights). It’s about a 45 minute drive from the rally point in La Junta. There’s space for another vehicle + 3 ppl, if anyone’s interested in sharing. Not many decent options in the...

US Rocky Mountain Advice for an Australian couple visiting the USA

Where do you plan to camp when visiting the U.S. National Parks? Although it puts you in an established campground, it’s sometimes advantageous to be inside the park boundary. A good example is Rocky Mountain; camping at Moraine Park means you won’t need to purchase either day use or Bear Lake...

Back aching after a 3,500 mile trip - lumbar support?

I just returned from a trip of more than 10K miles. Before leaving, I bought an inexpensive ($13) memory foam lumbar support cushion at Marshalls. It has a single strap that hooks behind your seat. Worked great! There are numerous options on Amazon, too.

    Campground or Boondock?

Amen, Grubworm - I pretty much do the same thing. It’s all about enjoying yourself, not adhering to someone’s made up “overlanding” rules. I’m currently in North Sterling State Park in Colorado, laying just inside the door of my teardrop trailer with feet propped up and jammin’ to Vincent Neil...

    Anybody from Maryland?

Well….I’m out right now. I’m currently en route to Colorado and beyond. Taking the trailer on this trip, so a little more civilized travel than usual.
