I have recently purchased a soft shackle and kinetic recovery rope to add to my recovery gear. I have seen these in use and they are just awesome. My next step is to convert my winch cable to synthetic rope and a closed winching setup. There's no such thing as being too safe.
I can't take credit for it.. I think I originally heard it from @BlkWgn on here.. And he was right. Its hard to resist the urge to "keep up with the jones' " but just getting out there and exploring helped me realize where my priorities lay with modifications to the truck.

I run a bulldog 12k lb winch on my truck, only because I got the winch as a christmas gift. Its never let me down, but it is a little on the slow side. I also have steel cable on it currently, but will eventually look into replacing the cable with synthetic rope and something like a Factor 55...

We have 2 Bobs at home and every vehicle carries a bug out box with enough to survive for 3 to 4 days out of our vehicles if needed... One thing y'all will learn about me is that I wear tin foil hats.. But I just like to call myself "prepared".

I carry a skottle and a cadac safari chef single burner. The cadacs is pretty much only used to heat water for coffee and the Skottle used for any and all cooking. I have a dodge ram 2500 with an 8 foot bed so I usually bring 2 of the 20 lb propane tanks and an adapter hose for the cooking...
