Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
There are many of these digital diaries out there that can also be used for recording a trip. I myself don't use anything like that. If I want to record a track, then via OruxMaps or very simple with my Garmin GPS 278 which I use anyway for navigation or with the OB1 app. So a recorded track in...
I agree, that the GSM model is the only way to go and not having to depend on an external GPS device. I am considering an iPad Pro since it will have the fastest CPUs, best resolution and the most advanced screen features. I am leaning towards 512GB thinking that will be more than enough memory...
Here is my setup.
iPad Mini2- 64GB 7.9" screen (GSM version) with GAIA GPS maps. Only iPad GSM model has the GPS chip, WIFI models does not. You could connect an external Bluetooth GPS receiver to WiFi model but not worth the hassle. My iPad mini is now old enough that it won't update beyond IOS...
I am planning on purchasing a new device to navigate with along with my car GPS/Car Play. I leaning towards an iPad over an Android device due to familiarity. I did not know if I should go with a pro model with the largest screen size possible. My thought process with a large screen is it will...
Thanks for coming out, it was great hanging out with everyone!

...the android based head units use real GPS data for navigation, i have a 7" Eonon head unit with external GPS antenna that works well.
2nd screen is connected to the output of the head unit and has 2 inputs so i have a front mounted camera as well, it will run any compatible android...
I’m going to move it to a pizza place off of 95 as I think just a few people will be attending. Plus I was going to review navigation and it’s easier to look at screens on iPads inside.

Next I begin the Trans New Jersey Trail which is "a 450+ mile route that spans from High Point, NJ to Cape May, NJ. The trail consist of asphalt, gravel, sand, dirt, and some mud. The trail is 100% legal for all street legal vehicles. This means you must be registered, insured, and compliant...
The "original" radio never worked right, so today I went and replaced it.
Whoever originally installed this did a pretty hack job of cutting the hole. Eventually I'll fix it, but for now I want sound and navigation.
Little bit of a rats nest of wiring, but eventually got it all hooked up...
Got the stereo installed and it works great. Completely happy that we have music and navigation all in one system. If anyone has any questions, I will provide the best answer I can.
Here is the new stereo that's going in. See how it works and report back on that one. I am hoping I can install a USB drive into one of the two USB ports and increase storage of the unit for maps, etc.

Base camp has been secured. It is the location that we used every year except last. Here's a Google link to it, but it's also listed in the location tab of the rally point.
Google navigation may tell you that you've arrived when you're still actually out of sight. Continue on up the hill a bit...
