  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

What is your must cook meal or must have food for camping.

Dang! Thems some mighty fine vittle-pics... Looks like someone was working hard at processing meat and fell asleep on the job! Too funny!

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

I have a Vevor with the quad outlets. I pipe two into the tent and two into an awning room. Even on low setting, both spaces are very comfortable when outside temps have been down to 35 F. My wife. Is always cold and even she was comfortable...

Stay warm, dry and keep full bellies and your family will LOVE the outdoors! Oh and don't feed the bears!

Now that is "top shelf" right there! Looks great on your trailer!

    House battery on roof top?

I was tossing around the idea of adding a diesel heater to the mix, but not sure if the battery generator would like the heat... Still a cool mental exercise...

    House battery on roof top?

Completely do-able! I think if I were going to do that, I'd consider one of the Harbor Freight Hard Rifle cases. It's relatively low profile, long enough to mount everything into it, and maybe even the solar panels on the outside of it, then you can leave it up there or take it down as the...

    Portable fire pits

A good camp fire is as integral to family camping as Smores (imho). I have yet to meet anyone tho that enjoys getting the smoke-in-the-face. Entire books and numerous videos are dedicated to minimizing the smokey fire pit. I had almost resigned myself to a propane fire pit complete with the...

    Heating solutions

I agree 100%! There are some pieces of kit that are considered "game changers", imho- a diesel heater is one of them! I'd buy a diesel heater before a 12v fridge, before a discada, before a smokeless fire pit, and even before a roof top tent! I have acquired all of those pieces of kit and...

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

You will not regret your decision. Besides, the 5KW and 8KW units are identical. Just marketing. Check the CDH forums.

Not perfect but I like it

No shame in that build! I bet everyone that camps with you is equally impressed and comfortable!

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

That is what I did. Bought an All-In-One and took it apart to install the guts into a harbor freight pelican style case. $120 for the unit, $65 for the case. Money ahead on the build. Although I added a boat fuel tank and QD fittings for storage and transport. Still less than buying a...

    Mr. heater "Little Buddy" experience?

I e used mine in my truck bed camper shell in 30 F weather, it rained condensation. Tried it in a Coleman 2-room canvas tent, got wet there too. Didn't want my roof tent to have condensation, so got a diesel heater. Best decision ever... Dry heat, exhausts outside, very fuel efficient... Now...

Diesel Heater rain cover for all-in-one unit?

I put it into the 4800 case. I have a few posts on it under the title "diesel heater transplant". Not sure how to link it to this post.

Diesel Heater rain cover for all-in-one unit?

I bought the vevor all in one as well, then disassembled it and put it inside a Harbor Freight Apache case. Inside that case it is much more weather resistant and durable for transport. I bought silicone heat ducting off AliExpress (not cheap, but very durable). It travels well in the truck...

    Cooking

Only one? Kelly Kettle. Bio fuel, rocket stove so I don't carry expensive fuel, has a water jacket so it boils water while it cooks/heats, compact for travel, versatile. Efficient!

    RTT MATTRESS

My tent only came with a ,two inc thick, vynil covered mattress, and not the best. After I added a condensation Matt, it slept much better. My wife still likes a cot sized air mattress on top of that to alleviate pressure on her hips.

    Sasquatch Stories?

I find myself watching YouTube WAY too much, what with the politics you don't get from the main stream and who is divorcing who in Hollywood... My favorite stories, however, are the Bigfoot or Sasquatch ones. Just for grins and shiggles, with all the adventurous and outdoorsy types here on the...
