What justifies the expense for a rooftop tent?

Now that is a setup! Half-height looks like the most practical if not ever running an annex underneath.

2016 Toyota 4Runner Trail Premium Torrance, CA

It looks clean and all but the price seems a bit high. For reference, for only $9k more, one could have a brand-new one. Good luck though!

    Titan swapped 2012 frontier pro4x

This looks like a fun project!

How do the first gen Xterras/Frontiers compare to 1G Tacomas/3G 4runners?

This sounds right to me. Nissan of the 80s and 90s made some cool stuff!

    Overpacking

What-If packing is always hard to minimize. I fear letting probability outweigh the what-if factor and finding myself in regret. As such, I just pack it all.

How do the first gen Xterras/Frontiers compare to 1G Tacomas/3G 4runners?

I can't say much about people's behaviors 20 years ago but nowadays, in my area at least, it seems the people who buy newer Nissans and Infinitys base their decision on their budget. Whereas, people who buy Toyota and Lexus base their decision on a genuine desire to buy a Toyota product. In car...

What justifies the expense for a rooftop tent?

Once you use one, you instantly realize the hype. Plus, I now run one on a trailer so it defeats most of the cons mentioned.

New build coming for our zr2

Looking great! Are you 100% sold on going with carpet all over? I'm just curious if putting down a vinyl-paneled floor would be useful for easy cleaning.

    1986 Landrover Defender 130

Man I'm glad I never saw this thread in 2017 because that would have been a cliffhanger. So how's it looking now?!

New vehicle mods advice- Now or wait?

Through my experience, I've learned to first purchase parts that are paramount like tires, a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, etc. OR parts that can you can take with you if you learn this vehicle isn't what you actually need after a year or so. Such as, a portable air compressor, RTT, winch...

    CafeRoaster's '08 FJ Cruiser

Nice upgrade! I love those Elements but the FJ almost comes across as its natural big brother, looks-wise.

    Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Overland Build

Great looking 2500 you have! I love how your dash still looks fairly untouched. Does the 2500 come with the G80 in the rear?

Big Easy - International S1700 Short Bus Build

    Overland Expo West

Just registered for the weekend. I'll be heading up from Houston but will likely be driving north of Tuscon through the Tonto NF.

Built not bought. Overland trailer home built.

I can definitely appreciate all the time you've put into that. Starting from complete scratch is a challenge although, I bet a little liberating. I am very curious about how the suspension will ride as I've ever seen it flipped around like that.

    Mounting your devices.

This is a 67 Design setup on my 4Runner and although I love the design, the price was not kind. What's awesome about it though is how minimally invasive it is. I mount my phone on it and it's at my finger tips with my right hand at 2:00. It also doesn't block anything on the dash. I hate...

    1988 HJ75 Landcruiser Troopy build

Progress is looking great! Love seeing all the updates and parts coming together.

    New Baby FJ

That looks great! It looked so go already when you got it that I was afraid the updates would kinda ruin it but they did not! Great looking height on there and I'm a big fan of full-width, practical bumpers. What led you to purchase 100% Ironman products?
