The cost of the GMRS license is $79 for 10 years. Everyone in your family can transmit with it.
Some repeaters are privately owned, so you'll need permission, sometimes at a very small cast.

The Smittybuilt Winch Shackle arrived this afternoon. So, on it went.

I replaced my DIY switch panel with a smaller, simpler unit and mounted it at eye level.
With the DIY switch panel removed from the driver's side of the center console, I moved the GMRS to take it's place.
:smiley: I used to spend a week at JD Service School in Memphis every winter. As I remember, snow and ice in Memphis is similar to what we get down here, only way more often. I busted my butt on the ice many times while there.
The best ribs I've ever eaten were at the Flaming Hearth in Whitehaven.
And we're at a greater disadvantage for snow. We got about ~2.5 inches back in December of 2008 and about 4 inches a couple years ago.
I too, wish for snow this winter.
I used to install these on Service Trucks. I've been having a couple set from before I retired. They were bought from NAPA. They're not cheap. If I were to purchase more, I'd shop Amazon. They sell these in many lengths.
