    Roaming Lost: x3 Locked 1990 Toyota HDJ81 (80 Series)

You will love this rig. The 80 series was designed at Toyota finest hour. We have one since 1998 and it went through a few transformations. We love it. Put 90K miles in the last 5 years since the 1HDFT/H151 transplant. We take it on 2-9K miles trip at a time. cheers mate!

Body has been sand blasted and will start painting soon. Doors have been primed. Can’t wait to get the body and start building this overland rig. Plan is to build something similar to our 80 series. Exception are, option to sleep in the Hercules AluCab pop up roof and on the bottom, a diesel...

Building a home in a 80 series Landcruiser

Small update... Went to grease the driveshafts and apparently the spider bearings were installed 90 deg off so nipples are unreachable. Pain pulling it off, back to the shop and waiting for it to be done. Meanwhile I swapped an engine in our daily driver, a 60 series landcruiser. Installed a...

Brandon, Looking forward for your build as well. The diesel Landcruisers are my favorite off road vehicle. I have built an 80 series overland vehicle and now building a troopy. Happy to help if you need anything. I recommend National Luna or Snow Master. What engine is installed? Cheers...

    1988 HJ75 Landcruiser Troopy build

While body shop is doing his magic on the body, I'll prep all the parts that bolt on it. Dash has been powder coated Navy Gray GR01 Cardinal, as all the rear cabinets will be. Ordered a new glove box door. This is dented a bit.. I'll make sure all the pieces fit. I did order a RHD set and ended...

This uses a stock turbo, so boost will not exceed 13 PSI. I've upgraded the turbo on my 80 series Landcruiser which has a GTurbo and that is limited to 18 PSI. We put 90K miles in the last 5 years on long trips to Alaska, East Coast and Continental Divide and many more with not a single issue.

Some updates on the body shop. They have been putting hours on the body. Graft floor panels, and make some sheet metal parts. Over 20 body parts have been ordered from Japan. If I knew then what I know now, I would not have bought this rig. But, I'm at point of no return, and when done, I...

Building a home in a 80 series Landcruiser

Just finished a 24 days/5700 miles trip including 2700 miles of the Continental Divide trail from Mexico border to Canada border. Over 1000 miles in low range including some passes in Colorado Rockies. Trip included a few rigs with an AMAZING crew. Experience that will last a life time.
