That's the approach I am planning on, though you'll want to make sure you can run a remote air intake in case you get into deep water/mud/etc. I'm also thinking I'll put some armor underneath to keep it from getting beat up by road/salt/sand/etc.
Did you re-gear at all? That might help you a little with some of the side effects... of course that in and of itself is yet another change.
@Caleb Cowan, I think you need to start out with a specific goal, and then we'll all be happy to help with guidance on how to get there :grinning:
If it's performing well for you, maybe take another approach. Do you need a higher lift, or are there parts of it that aren't performing as you'd like? Could you maybe upgrade your shocks? Add to the steering? Like other posters have said, how big of tires do you want to run? If you go bigger...
I think the tow strap is the preferred method for winching out with, say, a High-Lift, as you really don't want stretch in a slow pull type scenario. So also still a good thing to have. The appropriate tool for the appropriate situations!
I dug myself out of a similar situation last weekend. Not fun, but it's not like I was stuck forever because I didn't have a winch. Honestly, I'm more interested in Maxtrax at this point, but a winch is DEFINITELY on my list.
Anyone do pizza at camp? I know a wood-fired oven is the traditional cooking method, but given we aren't hauling in a ton of bricks, that doesn't work for overlanding. What methods do you have? I feel like this would be a good, hearty meal on the go, but not sure on the execution...
