What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Doing complete maintenance overhaul. Changed diff fluids, tranny fluid, transfer case fluid, installed a bigger radiator and flushed the coolant. Next will be cap and rotor, plugs, wires, a few gaskets and sensors. Should have her 100% ready in a few weeks!

    Significant Other

My wife fully supports my adventure laden personality. She's knee deep in working towards her masters so she can't always come with me. My kids are 3 and 1 and they love the adventures!

Nice! You can fit 33s without a body lift. I'm running 32s under my 1st gen and I've only got a tbar crank. I have AC UCAs, Tbars, shackles and a whole bunch of other parts sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. I'm also planning on a fridge and solar setup. And eventually want a dual...

With a $1100 budget, what upgrades from stock would you get?

I will echo the maintenance. Doesn't matter what other mods you have, if it's unreliable then you're screwed.

2002 xterra new overland need a little help

PML is just the acronym for "Poor Mans Lift" all you're doing is cranking your torsion bars to lift the front of the truck about 1 1/5" then put shackles or an aal in the rear to also lift about 1" or so. Thousands of people have done that and taken their Xs off road with no problems at all. So...

    New vs Used

I used to be all about new rigs only. I loved the warranty and reliability. However, the more I learn about other platforms the more I'm starting to get into used vehicles. So I bought a used rig for a dedicated overlander, and I have my new rig for daily driving. If I had to do it all over...

2002 xterra new overland need a little help

4x4parts.com is also a good option. They have quality parts and good prices. Rancho's are ok, I only know of 1 person with a 1 or 1.5 gen that has that lift, and he doesn't mind it. But says the shocks that come with it aren't all tht great. Have you done the PML yet?

Getting it done on the Cheap

I can not agree with this more!! I wish the Xterra had gotten more recognition, as it certainly deserves it. They are quite easy on the wallet, for repairs, modifications and just the general cost of the vehicle! Love this thread though!

Any other 1st gens? Here's a picture of my 01 SE, 4x4, 5spd. Ive only had it a few months and I have a garage full of parts I'll be installing when I get back stateside (AC UCAs, AC Tbars, rear 2"lift leaf pack,ARB snorkel, gobi ladder, Dometic cf25, and a few other things). I spent the first...

    First Overland Vehicle

1st gen Xterra, 2000-2004. They are HIGHLY underrated but very capable and there are plenty of aftermarket options. You can find one in good condition for under $2500. You can do a PML (poor mans lift, t-bar crank and shackles in the rear) for about $70. You can fit 32s under it with the PML...

    Hello from NC

Hello all! I've lurked on this forum a little bit over the past few months, decided I'd finally register. I am from Colorado originally but the Army has me living in North Carolina these days. I don't have any pictures with me at the moment (in Germany for a few months) of my rig, which is a...
