Well, this thread didn't start out as a build thread, but we might as well make it into one.
I spent about a week over the last month putting some work into the M416 to get it road ready for our upcoming labor day Red River Gorge trip.
A quick list of most of the things we did to this:
We got...
Hmm, not sure how I missed this, but here we go.
2016 TRD Pro 4Runner "Artemis". Completely stock for now, but we have a big list of plans for it in the future. Just had our first child, so that put a halt on things this year.
Holy hell, and Tundra guys complain about our MPG. I'm getting 15.5 avg and I can get 17 all highway. Was 16.8 avg / 19 highway before tires. Thats on a stock 2016 TRD Pro with 34.5" Cooper STT Pros.
Sadly, there are no axles out there to meet my hub requirements. For the time being i'm going to run the stock military axle with wheel adapters. Next spring I'll put a new Dexter axle in 6x.5.5 to match our 4Runner and then run wheel adapters on it for the Tundra.
Great build man! Can't wait to have the space to build my own. For the time being my M416 will do the trick, but building to my specs would be optimal. Looking forward to the rest of the build!
If you look at the thread, you might notice I posted a link for the adapters ;) This is the route i'm leaning towards to get me on the road for this trip. In the long run a new axle will be optimal. Something from Dexter will give me a modern design and the ability to pick up bearings/parts...
@rustED thanks! Yeah, i've been buying those guys...just waiting for Monday to role around to give them a call. The problem, like you mentioned, is finding the 5x150 bolt pattern. In my thinking, if I'm going to have to run adapters/spacers either way, then I might just repack the hubs on my...
So, the idea bed setup for us is a bit out of reach at the moment with my wife on maternity leave. Got the quote for $4300 for an ARE CX HD with lift. Still on the list of future mods, but this one will have to wait until next year.
Future setup goal:
In the meantime, we really wanted...
Thanks man! The Tundras are great trucks. They wont win any awards for innovations or being economically sound, but they are simple and built well. We recently had our first child, and with the size of the cab on these crew maxs, I can honestly say that I'd have a difficult time driving...
Bit the bullet today and got some new shoes.
Cooper STT Pros in 295/70r18. Not as much clearance with these nobbies on the UCA as I like, so I'll be ordering some hub centric spacers.
Hopefully that's a limited thing. I'm a member of some large Rover groups on Facebook and all are good people. Surprisingly enough, as a Toyota driver, Toyota people can be some of the most vial around.
