    Do I belong here?

Yes ;) There is no official accepted definition of "overlanding". Some pretentious folks may try to push that their personal definition is The Law, or some definition posted on a forum like this holds some sort of Statuary weight... it isn't and it doesn't. It's just car camping, or 4...

    Music and Overlanding

If you're at a campground with others camped nearby... keep your music to yourself! I hate some clod at the next site over deciding everyone in the campground should have to listen to their Death Metal HipHop fusion...

Truck camping side-Kitchen, setup and cook

This shows a quick "no build" kitchen setup on the side of truck, with timing for setup and cooking breakfast in 8 minutes. This is a useful type of Truck camp kitchen if you want to preserve your truck bed for hauling and doing truck-stuff. Here I am showing how easy and fast this no-frills...

We are driving around the world. Right now.

Doh! I was walking all around there, sorry I missed you guys! Would have loved to meet. Did get to meet a few other folks, Taking The Truck, saw Dan Grec's builder Wa-sabi campers, etc. I missed that last sentence on early may post above, saying you'd be there, then these last 2 posts were...

    Winch battery question

No, I didn't say that, you added the "simple switch to connect" in. Which just FURTHER CONFUSES what is meant by "Auxiliary battery ". What I said, run your winch from your alternator/start battery system. With alternator running. If you have a parallel second or aux battery wired into that...

    Winch battery question

@jimmyjamson I think your question, and thus Jimmy's answer, are confusing because imprecise use of terms. "Auxiliary battery"... is that a 2nd battery in parallel with start battery? Or is that a house battery system that is isolated for camping loads? Etc. Here is what is actually...

Ultimate Camping Pan! 12" Carbon steel wok!

This is my new camping pan. I use a wok all the time, but a normal 14" wok is heavy, too large to camp, etc. But this 12" one with a wide 8" flat bottom is perfect! I have 10 or so $120 All-Clad non-sticks, quality pans of all sorts, and this 12" wok is by far the best for camping. This 12"...

    Camping

huh. Looked at a map on google, turns out I've always thought the "middle colonies" of NY, PA, NJ, and DE, were all part of "new England", as being part of the original 13. I guess that's something I'd know if growing up NE of NY! ;) But hey, I do know where the Mogollon rim is, and...

    Solar panel

Buy a kill a watt meter for $12. Plug in fridge, run in car in sun at same temperature for 24 hrs, get actual reading. All else flows from that. 60 watt an hour? Thats 1440 Watt-hrs a day. A 100W panel will give maaayyybe 70w for 5 hrs a day, 350W. Leaving 1090 to be made up. A 100Ah 12v...

Looking for recommendations - Roll up kitchen utensil storage

Look at tool roll ups, they have more individual pockets and more options. I mean like wrench tools. Sturdier too.

    Aux battery

Kenny, I do not believe KS is correct about lithium and LiTime going to -4f for charging. That number is the limit for DISCHARGING from all the batteries I have seen. @KS_Explorer , can you provide a link to the spec sheets for LiTime showing a CHARGE capability to -4f? I don't think you are...

    Wiring Advice needed.

12v cigarette port will do 10A, maybe 12A, so 120-144 Watts. If that will run your ham setup, great, do it. You need to figure out ham power needs.

Electrical system w/ 120v inverter diy?

@Caribbean-snowfox I agree w @K12 . Stick with a brand to work together best. Redarc is very good, as is victron. They both have a combo dcdc charger plus mppt SCC, to replace the Renogy one in this setup below. Here is Wills schematic for a small mobile system with alternator charging...

Electrical system w/ 120v inverter diy?

Oh, and here is the minimalist system that might work for you if your needs are actually as low as you hinted: https://www.mobile-solarpower.com/the-minimalist-great-for-small-vans-and-cars.html

Electrical system w/ 120v inverter diy?

Here. Read this basic primer on a basic system. https://www.mobile-solarpower.com/the-classic-400-watt-rvs-vans-buses.html Redarc is good, but very expensive. Batteries are almost a commodity now. That same site I just gave, Will Prowse, tears down and reviews Batteries all the time, and he...

    Charging setup for e-bike

See my answer at ExpeditionPortal post. All looks decent except your jeep is 12v, your battery is 12v, you need a victron 12 12 30 non isolated, not a 24 24. Also, the 600w inverter is super wimpy, but ok size for just 100Ah 12v battery, if thats all the ac you need.
