Since this thread is gotten a little active, I thought I would throw something out there.
I live in Effingham, SC (Florence, SC area) out in the country on about 5 1/2 acres. (Not real close to trails though.) But, there are a few places where it's possible to get muddy and challenge your rig...
I'm just outside of Florence. (Effingham).
We love the Sandhills. We mostly do day trips. But, once we get a new tent we will be doing some overnights & weekends to the upstate, NC mountains & NE Georgia. (Want to do the Ga Traverse)
We also like Francis Marion NF down by Charleston. There is...
Personally, if I had the time, I would start in the Grayson Highlands/Mt Rogers area of Va and follow the TAT down toward Georgia (via NC, TN, SC mountain areas) You can pick up the Georgia Traverse and follow it across the state and go over through Alabama & Mississippi hitting the Natchez...
I've been a licensed minister for almost 20 years. I love Rv'ing, Over-landing, fly fishing and surf fishing. During the winter, you can find me along the SC coast and during the summer I love the mountains of SC, GA, NC, TN and VA. I always carry the Gospel with me and look forward to sharing...
I gave my daughter my 3rd Gen 4Runner LTD. Her Bf & I are trying to get her interested in overlanding. I had to get something that would flat tow behind our motorhome and not beat me to death like my 4Runner did. (It made sense to get a KL Trailhawk for it's comfort and on/OFF road performance.)
Used paper towels soak it up pretty good.
BUT! We save our bacon grease for cooking,
For cleaning we just use hot water. If hot water isn't available, just a hand full of dirt a little scrubbing with a cloth, rinse it out and then dry with a paper towel.
Check out MFC Offroad. They seem to have the most after market stuff related to suspensions etc that I've found so far.

Nope, they don't make a snowplow option. :grinning:
They did have some problems in 2014 and early 2015. But, by 2016 they seem to have worked things out. The main drawback (and selling point) to me is smaller size and limited storage. I'm okay with the size because we will be towing it behind...
The Cherokee (KL) market has really slim pickin's. I've looked at hitch mounts/swing gates and like them enough. But, I'm thinking about starting my own fabrication company for KL' s and Trailhawk models so we can have better choices for bumpers. sliders, etc. (As soon as the country gets back...
I suggest make sure you find a dog from a good breeder and good trainer. Since this is your first dog period, I also suggest signing up for some classes (not for your dog) for you as owner/handler. Find a trainer who specializes in behavior & communication. This will help during the initial...
We have a Jeep KL Trailhawk and are looking for ideas. There really doesn't seem to be too many KL's out here in the Carolina's. But, I want to check out some other KL builds if I can find them. (Post a if you overland or offroad a KL)
Another great resource is Trails Offroad: Explore the Best 4x4, ATV, Overland, Jeep, and Truck Offroad Trails in Your Area | Trails Offroad. (You can find trails and route guides there.)
Sorry your RV is in the shop. But, I'm glad to see other people who enjoy both the RV life & Overlanding in their Jeeps. There are plenty of good overlanding trails in N. Georgia and Western NC. I would suggest going to FaceBook and looking up the Carolina Overlanders group and the Georgia...
My wife & I have been CDL holders for years & were NRA firearms instructors in the past. We also have backgrounds in martial arts training. (We always have some form of weapon close by..)
Thanks for allowing me to join from South Carolina. My two "travel" passions are cross country RV travel and backwoods travel & adventure. My wife & I are long time campers and would travel in our Toyota SR5 pickup camping back in the 1980's, in our K2500 in the 90's and our 4Runner LTD in the...
