Changing out our seats for storage

I wouldn't go with jerrycans inside the car. I know the 4.0 is thirsty- my Fuelly can attest to that. What about one of those Pioneer Plastics fuel tanks - may be better sealing than the jerries. I still need to take my jump seats out - bench needs to stay though...

    OB Approved Basic Vehicle Recovery

Great write up. As mentioned elsewhere, many of us know the gist of it, getting a more technical explanation/write up is most welcomed an useful.

    2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Build

If I were in your shoes, I’d look for something local and RHD. I would assume that hauling a truck halfway around the world and back would be pretty expensive. Another thought is that you may find certain components that are normally serviceable, becoming problematic due to LHD/RHD...

    2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Build

Hi, You have a great vehicle and a huge amount of aspirations for it. My first recommendation for you, if your plan on moving to Botswana is close to reality and expected to be a longer term deal - don't spend money on mods yet. My reason for saying that is, all the countries you mention...

Overland Rig Setup vs. Trailer Set Up

In that case I would kit the truck and use a decent ground tent, thereby allowing for a base camp setup if you want to. Downside of rooftop is that every time you want to go anywhere you are packing up camp to do so. As said, not very experienced myself, but these are my opinions. Sent from...

Overland Rig Setup vs. Trailer Set Up

I think these are the key questions. I don't have a lot of experience, but my parents do - having done many overland trips through Southern Africa. Their experience is to have as few moving parts as possible, thus avoiding a trailer. But having said that, if you truck is also your DD and you...

    DIY Limb Risers

What you could do is to drill straight through the rack, fix an eye bolt in that position, and spin the line around - turn-buckle at the bottom, on the outside of the hood bracket. Might be just enough clearance, and more secure at the top. Minimal extra cost. Maybe to test it out, you could...

    DIY Limb Risers

Well done, looks good. Out of interest, can you still open the bonnet/hood with them in place? Looks to me (might just be the angle) that the spring hooks may interfere. I may have done one or two things a little differently, but this is your truck and project, so do it your way. Good...
