    Rooftop tent

You are off the ground, so not tracking in mud/snow/sand. This also means in cold environments it won't suck as much heat from the tent. This goes the same with just sleeping in the bed of the truck. Depending on what RRT they can also be deployed and stowed very shortly. This was major for...

    4th Gen 2018 Ram 2500 diesel - 35" Spare

They fit on the 2018 Power Wagon, its tight, air it down a bit and beat it in. Otherwise I rock Expedition One bumper with tire mount. You mounting location are a bit limited, maybe look at the AEV tire mount, they make good stuff...

Death Valley trip in mid February

Cool photos, love that area, and really wished the fire didn't happen at Cerro Gorodo. Man that place has some amazing history. Still have mixed feelings about the hotel at Cerro Gordo standing for 100 years and some kid buying the place and letting it burning down within the year... guessing...

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

Oh do go on; which old people on the AM radio are you referring too... Must be on your mind since you refer to it twice in your long rant. If you are an automotive engineer you should know about fleet average MPG's (CAFE), EPA, and even CARB regulations (did you know about the ZEV cap and...

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

You seem to be reading diagonally...Hybrid systems have not been used offroad to any noticeable degree and for any period of time. Thats all uncharted territory. And it remains to be seen how they will hold up. They are an answer to pavement overlanding for sure. In America we have many...

Have you looked at a Colorado ZR2?

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

I'm going to go on a limb and guess you don't offroad too much. In 30 years a lot of innovation has occurred, my shocks isnt just some cruddy gas contained in a simple piston... what about metallurgy of chromoly axles, or the improvements in diff lockers? Your innovate "because I say so,"...

    Spring wildflowers- sierras

When the snow starts melting on the trails I'll PM you. I just went over to Fairy Falls (Beale Falls) and while its green, flowers probably wont pop until mid March. But that's a nice hike, popular but not as impacted as say Hidden Falls in Auburn.

Overlanding and Outdoor Cartoons....out of my mind.

score, one has an AT habitat! But the spring replacement is great!

    Spring wildflowers- sierras

Come spring (in the Sierras) there's tons of areas off in the Bowman lake complex to stop and hike to meadows. If you branch off the forest roads from N 89 there are tons of meadows out there en route to the various lakes, Independence, Jackson, Meadow etc. Or head over to Mt. Rose hwy and...

Cancelled Washington BDR Overland Trip 2021

Maybe this https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/june-2020-wabdr-washington-backcountry-discovery-route.29537/ looked like fun to me.

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

Because hybrids havn't been proven to be reliable off road or in adverse conditions...It's an answer to pavement overlanding. I think the better option is still pointing out and removing the arbitrary taxes and regulations that cause high fuel prices to begin with.

    Death valley and steel pass

I didn't have a problem with Steel Pass/Deckadera canyon rocking a Ram 2500 Power Wagon. I went up it from Eureka Dunes. Take your time, use a spotter if ya need. Edit: 35" tires, factory suspension

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

Fuel prices just dictate what rig I take. Living in Kaliforniastan, driving to pretty much any other state I get cheaper gas prices so really my trip locations change. But I kept my f250 7.3L for a reason. I've run it on used motor oil, gear oil, corn oil, frying oils, glycol; whatever is...

    Signal Peak trail question

Eagle Lakes exit to the Fordyce Staging grounds is the "hard" way to signal peak. You don't actually go on the Fordyce trail, the signal peak trail is its own spur. Honestly I think its an easy run, and a good intro for offroading. The beginning is a tight climb, but there is enough pullouts...

    Usal Beach for MLK weekend

Awesome to hear, certainly a good wind test there! If you didn't know you can also drive on Blues Beach just north of Fort Bragg too. Its just easier to get to and smaller so sometimes way more crowded.
