Hi everyone,
I was so excited about doing this ride with all of you but we are facing a tidal wave and there isn’t much we can do to stop it. As a healthcare worker and part of the planning teams I can tell you we are woefully unprepared as a nation.
The only thing we can control is keeping...
very easy to setup the annex, putting away takes a little more muscle but it’s doable for a one person. Those 4WD guys pack the thing up in like three minutes no problem. I’m proud to say I got packing down (with the annex) to 30 minutes.
needless to say I have work to do.
As of right now I’m an 80% gonna camp that night.
I see that Bassriver Campground is right by the Brewery. I am guessing that will be my home for the night if we decide to stay. I would think it should be pretty empty in March.
Anyone else interested?
The big difference in the 2 and 4 other than the extra bed is the storage. There is very little storage in the 4, the 2 has several
More storage compartments.
I have the annex, it is big, heavy and a bit cumbersome. But, It is amazing how much space that thing gives you when it’s set up.
it...
Can’t wait to get out there. I am seriously contemplating bringing the trailer for practice. Those larger holes you mention may cause some trouble but I will never know what I can do until I try. Would you mind if we brought it?
Are there any good campsites near the end of the run, if the...
If you are looking for a trailer for just you and your dog and are looking at the Opus OR, check out the Air Opus 2. The pictures I put up I the other thread are of the 4 which has an additional bed but sacrifices some storage and the hatch system is different. I would have gone with the 2 if...
I think they came to the US IN 2018. Their US operations are in California but they have dealerships across the country. I got mine in PA.
their is a fairly active group on Facebook in case you are interested in learning more about them.
I only purchased it in the fall of 2019 so I am still learning the finer ins and outs. I have taken it out 3 times, the first time being in a regular campground then more remote each time. But checking out "4WD ACTION" youtube videos will show some of the craziness that it can offer.
Pros...
I can’t believe no one mentioned the Opus trailers. These things are great. They are a little big, a little costly, but they are very capable and very roomy! I can sleep 6 in my OP4, and add another 4-6 sleepers if you include the annex.
if you want to see it in action go to YouTube and...
I have a complete mount system on its way from Expedition Essentials which includes the RamX mounts. I am going with the Ram X mounts because I want to be able to take my head unit down to hide it To avoid theft.
I’m new to the HAM world (still waiting on my call sign). If anyone going to this is experienced with HAM operations and is willing to teach a little, I’d be willing to trade a beer for some knowledge.
Thanks Ed,
I’m still waiting for my call sign so once I get it I’ll try logging in to Echolink. I look forward to being once step deeper into the overlanding world!
