    Re-fueling from your Gerry can

It is JERRY can. After the German fuel can of WWII. A super syphon is the best method I've found to transfer fuel. The trick is to have a good place to put the can above the fuel tank.

Jackery Solar Generator 1500: The Best Solution for Powering Camp?

The title Jackery Solar Generator 1500 says it. I know it is a marketing thing designed to make people think this system is a replacement for a real generator. It is a battery pack that can be recharged with a solar panel. When the power goes out, you don't see people running out to buy...

Jackery Solar Generator 1500: The Best Solution for Powering Camp?

The Jackery is not a generator. That is very misleading to many people. The Jackery is a battery. The solar panels produce power under limited conditions. RV'ers use generators to power A/C units, fridges lights charge batteries. Your Jackery is not going to power a RV's A/C unit...

Gear for starting out? (Check my list!)

If you don't have steel bumpers then a high lift is a waste of money and space. Add a second bottle jack and some wood blocks . A good tire plug kit is invaluable. Harbor Freight has nice roof basket for $99.00. Well made and a better way to carry your fuel. I bought one this past winter...

Dometic Fridge in Pickup Bed and Bear Country

A good thing to do to keep bears away is to spray ammonia ,full strength, around your cooking area, where you keep trash in your car. Also spray the ammonia in the trash. I've been doing that for three years in bear country and no issues .

    Garmin Overlander

One belief I've seen is there is a cell signal everywhere. That is true if you are not getting into the wild. Younger people seem to believe that there is a cell signal everywhere. They also don't know what a paper map is. . I just spent a week in Montana with zero cell signal. I could put...

The CB is also useful for traveling on the highway. Listening to the truckers can keep you from getting stuck in a backup.

Ditch the CB entirely or stow it?

Better to have it and know what is going on the highway than not. CB radios are so cheap they are almost free. Be sure to get the antenna properly tuned for it to work properly. Most people complain about CB radios not working don't have a tuned antenna. I drove to Alaska and to Deadhorse...
