8:30 am to 9:15 am Group Meetup, short social, driver meeting and fuel top off at Ingles in West Union SC. Enter the Georgia Traverse at Burrells Ford Campground Mountain Rest SC and continue to Dillard Georgia via a couple of short dips up into NC. Will take a lunch break in Dillard and those...
Right now we will do from Burrells Ford to Dillard which is all vehicle and then from Dillard (Betty Creek/Patterson Gap) to Coleman River through Charlie's Creek for 4 wheel only. If the weather is wet, 4 wheel for entire trip might be the smart option.
Everything we came across was open but I find in warm weather that many FS roads are subject to closure as more traffic is seen in these areas. During hunting season, the gates fling open so hunters have great access.
At least this has been my experience.
I like the "thinking outside the box" with wind generation but some form of gear reduction would be required as vehicle speeds thus wind speed got over 30 mph. Many wind generators aren't engineered when wind speed get up to those levels.
I did see a camper with a rotating, telescoping mast...
We are back to more typical weather but after the cold spike last week, it feels almost summertime.
The Traverse trip is going to take place on Saturday February 10th which I'm hoping to get posted in the next day or 2. Work has been more hectic than I thought it would this week.
As to a...
Yes. A Ga. Traverse meetup/trail ride should post up by this weekend. Also a couple of rigs want to go with me into Blue Ridge WMA so I may be doing that in a couple of weeks.
The Georgia Traverse Meet up and Trail Ride will formally post up early part next week, maybe this Sunday night. It will be either Saturday Feb 3rd or 10th. Leaning strongly towards the 10th at the moment to give a weekend break after winter rallys in NC & Tenn on last weekend of January...
Cooper Creek is well down the Traverse but it has outstanding fishing as I've been told. Also excellent camping there with a vaulted toilet. I've never fly fished but giving serious thought to taking it up. Also out the south side of Cooper Creek just west up Hwy 60 is Deep Hole on Toccoa...
From what I hear, that sounds about right. A few of us are planning a recon trip next weekend to locate a good meet point and to check out the travel generally so we can offer an accurate report for those with factory stock rigs. The idea is to get as many as who want on the trail rather than...
The discussions are open. Looking at a ride date of Saturday Jan. 27, Feb. 3rd or 10th. Ride from SC Traverse beginning to Hwy 23 above Dillard. Further depending on group size and time. Opinions welcomed, especially on the date. Will also post current trail conditions with formal Meet...
Soun
Sounds good. There is a side trail in BR WMA that has a nice size grassy meadow that I want to check out that might make a good spot for a large group, maybe even to camp at. The thinking maybe a early spring kinda off grid rally deal for those of us in the area.
After the holidays...
No but if you go to Google maps, it's pretty straight forward. Both Blue Ridge and Cooper Creek have opened up trails the last few months but Big Game season closes in 2 weeks so waiting to see what gets re-gated after the new year or does it stay open into small game and then Turkey season in...
Report from Blue Ridge WMA and Cooper Creek WMA as of today.
Was hoping to hit Tray Mountain and Charlie's Creek today but a number of factors just made that hard to accomplish. But I did get up this morning and decided to take a few hours and hit Blue Ridge WMA and Copper Creek WMA. Entered...
